This really sucks?

I'm going on a 6 week "build" job and will be staying in the 5er with no sewer connection. So, I'm told that they will be sending a truck to pump out my tanks once or twice a week. Since I have never had this done before, does anyone (who has had experience with this ) have any sage advice?

My advice " just do what a bear does in the woods" and be a good Boy Scout and cover it up!

I'd leave the gray tanks cracked open so they always trickle to the ground.

One week on the black tank should be no problem with one person.

I doubt you will fill the tanks in that time. If you think you might you could purchase a portable Waste Tote. I wouldn't just crack the the kitchen grey tank as sediment could build up. You could just dump the bathroom in my opinion.

Used the honey wagon once - process worked like a charm. I wasn't thrilled that the nucklehead operator opened all of my valves at the same time, but at least the black was opened and closed first so there was minimal chance of black water getting into the grey tanks. The only concern I had was with the pump on the wagon being too powerful and collapsing my tanks if they couldn't vent fast enough...

That process is used at many rallies and the guys doing the job are well versed in how to handle rv's.

I will assume you have a water supply and not using your FW tank. As long as you dont take long showers (do a navy shower here) you will be OK. I boondock all the time and easily get a week from my gray tank and a month from my black tank..

There is a big difference between once or twice a week. Twice a week no problem, but once a week you might need to get creative. I use to pay a service to mow my lawn once a week. Every time I turned around they would go 14 days between mowings and then mow it two days in a row. I fired them. I would be finding out specific days the honey dip truck is supposed to come and hold them to it so you don't have to hold it!

6 WEEKS??? I would be happy if we made it a week! I've never had to use the "honey pot", but I've never heard of any problems with it. For a nominal fee you don't have to break camp, haul your camper to the dump station, get dirty, haul it back and set up again... Sounds like a deal to me!

This is what I was looking for. Thanks!
Unfortunately, Tunce, it's difficult to
" just do what a bear does in the woods" when camping on a concrete parking lot .

It's your trailer so watch the operator - if they don't follow the one handle/time process, correct them.
Don't leave the grey open. In a parking lot it would be a very bad idea since someone will notice and complain. The tank sediment could be a problem too and you need to have some water to flush it out properly.
Be ready to get a holding tank from Walmart if they are going to be too long between pumps.

The grey tanks are no problem because the sink traps will vent if they use Lots of power. I prefer to hold the toilet valve open when they pump the black tank. Black water running into the other tanks is not a problem, the truck has lots of suction.

Thanks Clutch! I was wondering about the toilet valve. I'll make sure the DW holds the pedal down while I'm outside talking to "Bubba"
