Toilet Leak - Same Place as Others?

We finally developed a leak with our toilet. It was sporadic at first, but the last trip it occured with each flush. We located the source. It is behind the toilet right below the seat/lid.

Is this where others have experienced their leak? How did you resolve it (part ordered; ease of replacement; etc)? Generally how did it work out for you.

Thanks in advance Click image for larger version

Think I'll just listen and learn......, never had any issues with my toilet yet.

Had the same leak on mine first time out. I understood that Thetford had a bad batch of valves. Mine was replaced under warranty and thus far the problem has not re-occurred.

I called Thetford, told them about the leak and that I had heard there was a recall. The agent said there was no recall but he offered to send me a new valve and gasket for the toilet. It probably took me all of 40 mins to install both and since then, no more leaks.

My toilet leaked at the same place. It was repaired under warranty, so I did not do the work myself.

I had the same problem with my toilet. Called Thetford and they gave me the part # for my toilet and also quoted a price. I went to a local RV dealer and found the part for less $. I read threads in this forum before doing the work. Great help and it took me an hour or so. I ended up removing the toilet to work on it. The instructions that came with the part were great.

Everything you need to know about changing out a water valve module, including the original link from RVnet. Don can handle this job easily, I think Mama mod can too!

Crabby! I remember it was you that had a leak a year ago! In anticipation, I had contacted the dealer who sent us the replacement valve part that 'everyone' was having the issue with! Knuckleheads we are, neither of us remembered your leak, or, getting the valve before the warranty expired LOL!

Thanks for the above info Lee! Don lost 'rock/paper/scissors' so he got to change it out . He read your original post, took the valve and directions out, and had it finished in half an hour. Camping this weekend and no more leaks!
