Vmax charge tank batteries

Hi,
I am considering replacing the flooded deep cycle battery in my Greyhawk with a Vmax charge tank AGM battery MR137. Has anyone used this brand? The price is competitive and I really like AGM batteries because they tend to be more tolerant of RV use than flooded batteries.

For anyone who is interested I purchased two MR137 VMChargetank AGM batteries. The great news is the first battery fits neatly in the stock battery tray. The second I installed under the bed in a spot next to the stock inverter. The batteries provide a combined output of about 240 amp hours. They are true deep cycle batteries not marine dual purpose. We went on a 7 day camping trip and the satellite dish and receiver were never turned off, the TV didn't get turned off except when we went to bed. We also charged our phones, iPads and computer on the inverter the entire trip. When we parked for more than a few minutes we lowered the landing jacks. The batteries are supposed to last 8 - 10 years in normal service. So far so good! Each battery is slightly heavier than the stock group 27 weighing in at 75# each vs the stock 53#.

Old thread here, but I'm in the market and the Vmax seem to have a lot to offer. Any news on these? Anyone else running AGM with their stock 3-stage chargers (or otherwise)?

I don't boondock, but I would like to have a reasonable 12v deep cycle instead of the dual purpose marine batts out there...

If you don't boondock then any battery will do. All you need is something to run the electronics when the tow's engine is off and you are not plugged in.

5CCA, 2AH will cover that load.

Throw a $30 garden tractor battery in the box when the marine dual purpose reaches it's 5th year in service.

Then replace the cheep battery every 3 years.

Don't waste the bux on something you don't need.

I don't know about a battery quite that small, but I believe you raise a good point. So I've been searching for a decent 12V battery, and am partial to AGM because I put one in DW's car and I love it. I don't need anything crazy, but I'd like something that I don't have to fuss with or worry about quite so much... The search continues...

Other than they don't spill, emit gasses and can be installed in any orientation, what's so great about AGM batteries?

I guess I'm old school, gimme flooded cells with removable caps every time.

To Mike's point, my dad never boondocks and has always used car batteries that he retired from his vehicles, or got from friends. They typically have enough life left in them to use on the trailer for about 2 seasons. He hasn't had to buy a battery for the trailer in many years.
