Water pump leaking

I did a search of the forum and found nothing of help with my problem. The problem is... when we are connected to city water, the pump(Shurflo model# 2088) leaks. Turn the city water off, no leak. This was our first time out where we were connected to city water. It's a new to us trailer and our first time out we dry camped... no leak then. Has anyone else had this problem or possibly have a solution?

I have no first hand experience with this but know that you should not have city water pressure on the pump input when on city water. Your camper should have some method, as mine does, of isolating the pump from city pressure either thru a different input or valve arrangement.

Can you see where the water leak occurs? Keep us posted when you resolve it. I am sure someone here has more knowledge of this specific rig.

Agree with Norty1 - your city water inlet should not be directly in the line with your pump. Should be a bypass or valve. Also, you would be wise to install a water pressure regulator in line outside the unit, to make sure that you don't have too much pressure inside and blow a connection somewhere.

The water is coming out of the pump head. Tried tightening the 4 screws as per the Shurflo manual. They were not loose.
Yes, you would think there should be a check valve someplace inline. Maybe there is one on the outlet side of the pump and it isn't working. What I ended up doing is disconnecting the outlet line from the pump and plugged it. I'll have to do some research on the pump and see if there is a check valve in it.
But since the pump leaks, I'll probably just replace it. Any suggestions on which pump to get?

I always hook a pressure regulator inline whenever I am connected to city water.

Update... Just talked to Shurflo tech support. They said it is the diaphragm leaking and yes, it has a built-in check valve. Since I haven't heard of people having much luck w/ the rebuild kit, I'll just replace the pump.

I would buy the best one you can afford. It will likely be more powerful and quiet than the old one.
