Water pump not pumping

Recently bought my first trailer. 05 Jayco Jaylite 29'
Water works fine while on city connecting. Filled my fresh water tank and turned pump on, i get nothing. Pump is running and i opened all valves at the pump. Tried closing ones to water heater, still nothing. I don't even hear air coming out of fixtures. Owners manual says something about the pump running until 40 or so pounds of pressure is built up. How long should that take? I've let it run a while and still nothing. Am i missing a valve somewhere?

Make sure the valve at the pump is actually turning the internal part and its not just the handle that's turning. To confirm, place the winterizing tube into a container of water and turn pump on. . If it draws water valve may be bad. You can also check the check valve at the pump.

As far as how long it takes until the pump should shut off. If there isn't a faucet open a couple seconds provided there is water in the system. Since you had it hooked up to city water then there is water in the system.

The pump should be easily accessible because you would need to access it for winterization. I agree that I would try and suck water up from a bucket or jug and see if it works.

There is also a set screw on the pump to allow you to adjust pressure. Try adjusting the screw slightly. If that [and the other recommendations] doesn't work then you may need a new pump. Luckily they are not expensive and easy to replace.

It won't build up pressure until the water heater tank is full. That takes a few minutes.

He said he was previously hooked up to city water so I was assuming he already had the water heater filled.

Are you sure your winterization hose valve is closed?

All valves were in correct position. Pulled incoming line and got water from tank. Pulled pump and couldn't blow air through. Just picked up a new pump.

same issue.

Upon examination, water filter was cracked&dry as a bone. I am guessing that the crack would not let the pressure build. Water would just spit out in spurts at first,, then nothing. Going for a new filter now. First post, first Jayco, 2011 BH26.

We had that issue. The water filter was clogged. We cleaned and replaced it
No more problem

Newbie with same problem

My husband & took our new 30REKS out last weekend and could not get the water pump to work. Just occassional spews of water. We haven't tried to hook it up to city water.

Is there something specific to look for first? Low point drains were closed, faucets were opened. Ran pump for 20 minutes and nothing.

1.) Check to make sure there is plenty of water in the tank
2.) Check to make sure the valve on the hose going into the tank is open
3.) Check to make sure the valve on the clear winterization tube is closed
4.) Check to make sure the tank vents are unobstructed (otherwise creates a vacuum in tank)

Was it spewing air instead of water when you opened the taps?

X2, especially on #2 & 3. It is common for the winterizing valves to be left open.

The valves are at the pump. Your water heater bypass valves, probably will need to be flipped too. You will find them inside the tt, behind the water heater. You mostlikely will need a #2 square drive, screw drive to gain access.

Mine had crimped pipe from factory. After I changed pipe I had to hook a hose up and hold it up and pure water in to prime it. After that it worked fine.
