X-Chocks - how tight?

Just bought some x-chocks for my Jay Flight 22FB.
Couple of quick questions:
How hard do you crank on your X-chocks when tightening?
Can you hurt anything by cranking too hard?

Thanks for the help!

You want to make sure there is good tension but dont really get them into the tire too much. You wont hurt anything by tightening them up, just dont really crank on em if you are gonna leave them for an extended period of time, it might damage the tire.

I think they work great , they hold the camper tighter so you don't get as much shaking when someone is walking about , and the trailer is more stable .

We are using the yellow plastic "Wheel Stops", we still get jiggles or "waves" as I refer to them. I have a few things to look into for that next season.

Take heed....

I totally meant to post this a month ago after driving 9 hours through the heat of the desert. We arrived to Albuquerque and set up the tt at a CG. Cranked the X-chalks down pretty good. About 30 minutes later, we felt a slight movement with a poppiing sound. It was dusk by then so we couldn't see what had happened. The next morning we saw some pressure on the tongue post and the stabilizers. Don checked the x-chalks and they were loose! We had failed to consider that when we tightened them that the tire had expanded in the heat! From that point on, we now chalk behind or in front depending on the incline) the tire with a block until we know that the tire is cool and the x-chalks are seated well

I also noticed the same thing with our home-made inbetween the wheel chocks. Put them in nice and tight when the tires are hot and an hour later they were loose. Tighten again and they stayed tight.
So I always recheck the chocks after I finish setting everything else up.
I also use a regular chock on the low side just in case.

I highly recommend them. They work great on our TT. Really helps with the "wiggle".

Nice and snug when we setup. Check 'em the next morning to snug up 'em some more. Not overly tight. We use the X-Chocks and the plastic wedges. The trailer doesn't wiggle at all. Great investment.

I just ordered a pair of X-chocks, part# 28012 (which is a pair of the 28010's) from Amazon last week. Price for the pair was just $71.17, with free shipping. Just an FYI for anyone thinking of getting a pair.

Have a good one,

We definitely would suggest them.... So many places to purchse them. We purchased ours from Ebay which included the "cute" little locks to keep honest thieves honest for about the same price mentioned above. Shop around

Been looking at those ... they look like a great investment for both the wiggle & safety. My TT is parked in the driveway on quite a slope - we live on the top of a mountain..if it ever let go we'd probably find the TT in the Pacific!

One of the main reasons I got them was for our sloped driveway. Put them on this weekend and the wife said it definitely reduced the wiggle.

What about the Rotochok? Anyone heard of these? We'll need to be looking into something like this and haven't decided yet which is better.

Any expert advice?
