Question 2007 jayco 19jtx

i was looking to buy a 2007 jayco 19jtx but was worried about my tow vehicle, i have a 2007 gmc envoy 4x4 slt with 3.73 gear and the i6. according to the manual i can tow a max trailer of 5700# but the gross weight of the trailer is 6000# and i believe the dry weight is only 3740#
has anyone towed one of these with an envoy, i am planning on using a prodigy p3, wdh with sway and adding a trans cooler
any info is greatly appreciated

We owned a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer which is basically the same vehicle. I have no doubt the engine and tranny can do it, but I would suggest you read some of the "stickys" to get a better idea of your actual tow rating.

I would guess that trailer weighs closer to 4000lbs, you can't really trust dry weights. By the time you load it up you will easily hit 4500lbs or more, at that point your tongue weight will be between 450 and 675lbs(10-15%). If I remember correctly, the payload capacity of the TB was right around 1200lbs, so if you take 600lbs off for tongue weight you have at most 600lbs left. Depending on how many will be riding in the vehicle, it may work out, remember that 600lbs has to include everyone and everything in the vehicle including a full tank of fuel and this weight has to come off of your maximum tow rating.

We had considered pulling an X17Z with the TB, which is a smaller trailer than you are looking at, but with the four(sometimes five) of us and all the stuff we end up taking, it would have put us over the GVWR of the TB.

Haha.. kinda like the position I was in with the same TV. After searching around/reading up on what the Envoy can actually handle we went for a 165 model but would have liked to go with a 20' model but would have really pushed the Envoys abilitys. We tow with just a sway bar and P2 brake controller but I would suggest anything bigger get a WDH installed (ours squats a good bit when loaded up with gear etc) and the 165 hooked up. Check out trailvoy.com forums (towing section) to get a feel what everyone else is towing around.
