2012 4-Runner for 1206 TV

We found a really sweet deal on a 2012 2WD 4-Runner yesterday in another town and were wondering if the 5000lb tow rating would be cutting it too close on the 1206?

2012 4-Runner for 1206 TV

We tow a 2012 jayco 228 dry weight 4000# with our 2014 4 runner. It handles it very well.

I wouldn't foresee any problems with that setup

Thanks everyone. It looked we would be OK sitting at about 75% capacity, but the tongue weight on the 1206 is a beast.

Just a heads up, keep in mind that a trailer's loaded tongue weight is supported by the TV, thus the weight is subtracted from the TV's Payload Capacity.

If you get a chance, run your "loaded" 4-Runner and 1206 PUP across a CAT scale to dial-in your set-up.

A little note on published Tow Ratings:

IMO you should be fine, but we all have different loading habits and a CAT scale visit provides a little towing confidence
