2012 ford expedition EL - 2016 28 BHBE

I currently own a 06 23B but and picking up my new 2016 28BHBE next week. Looking for thoughts and advice on how my 2012 ford expedition EL will handle the camper or what i can do to the expedition? The owners manual says with a WD hitch (i use a Husky center line TS) i can tow up to 10K. I have added a K&N air filter and planning to have a magnaflow exhaust installed as well. Living in southern, VA there are always going to be mountains to pull going to any destination. I know a truck would be a better option but with 3 kids, Wife and dog in tow a truck does not have a third row.

Thanks for all the help.

This a bit of an apple/orange analysis but we towed the X23B with an 03 Expe and it was "adequate". Our max tow number was 9500# as I recall and the 23B weighed in at 3800# and 600# on the hitch with just eh bride, wiener dog and myself aboard. We had about 300# under the Rear GAWR.
A rough run on the numbers suggest that a TT of 9000# would put a touch over 1000# on the hitch which would put me right at the rear axle rating.
IMHO you will be a touch over weight with your current TV. A trip to the scale would help set your expectations.
The CAT Scale is your friend.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that set up isn't going to work well, if at all. You'll likely be over your numbers in terms of the multiple weight limitations, and if you disregard that and tow it anyways the experience you will have won't be a good one. The 28BHBE is a monster bumper pull that needs a lot of tow vehicle to handle it.
