My plan is tomorrow is to talk the dealer tomorrow and hopefully that he will be able to help me with the 4.10 gears.

My owner manual recommends 87 octane for the 6.4L Hemi. Other sections of the manual regarding octane reiterate this recommendation. I've been using it since day 1 in my truck, and I'm at nearly 10K miles now.

I suppose with fuel prices where they are, this might be the time to run a test with 89 and see what happens?

I have to disagree, the difference is actually substantial. There are pages and pages of threads talking about the difference getting 4.10s. A couple of pages ago I posted torque output values and with 3.73 the 6.4 actually put a lot less torque to the rear wheels than an Ecoboost. I think 4.10 should be minimum ratio offered with 4.56 and 4.93 as options.

Nice, you got the exact truck I was looking for last year but couldn't find one equipped like that in a 1,000mi radius from Portland.

I didn't say they were as good as 4.10s, but if availability and price are a concern, I wouldn't shy away from them. They will do the job quite nicely in the 8-9k range and will suffice for over that as well. 4.10s are obviously the better choice and I wish I had them, but availability was an issue and the price to order was significantly higher than buying the one I did off the lot- so money saved.

I agree with you regarding price. But I still think there is a big enough difference that I wouldn't settle for the 3.73. When I test drove the 6.4 last year it felt fine on flat ground but it was noticeably lacking grunt in the hills.

In my case another consideration whould be, how much time will be spent towing verses daily use ? Gas milage will be different with the lower gears. Although fuel prices are very friendly now, I do not believe this is a long term trend. For me, I would have more use as a daily driver. Just my opinion, enjoy your choice.

The majority of the threads I read staTed the fuel mileage was actually better with 4.10 as they help make up for the poor gear spacing of the 66RFE.

Hmm interesting to say the least, my plan is going in sometime this week to look at my options and since the one I want they are going to get it from there location. I'm not in a big hurry so I will see, the package they since me that have the 3.73 gears the only thing that I will add is the 4.10 gears.

I will see how long will it take to get one in from the factory this week and if it 6 to 8 week I'm okay with that. In the pacific northwest there are a lot of hill and when I get my trailer having the 4.10 gears will be awesome. We not going to be towing a lot a year because my wife and I are pastor of a church so getting away might not be an option in ours case but it will still be nice to have the right gears.

It will be worth the wait for the 4.10 gears, even if you never tow....

I installed them myself. I had to modify the mounting bracket for the air compressor and air tank, otherwise it was a fairly simple install.

Congratulations. I hope you are more patient than I am. I absolutely wore out my salesman the last two weeks before delivery...

Thank you guys, I just can't wait and I just order it today, the dealer said it will be about three months, I can wait because this is going to be my truck for a long time and plus I haven't bought my trailer yet so it's all good.
