2016 Toyota Tundra 5.7 V8 Max Tow Pkg.

Well, I finally upgraded my tow vehicle from 2008 4Runner to 2016 Tundra V8 with Max. Tow Pkg. and Max Payload Pkg.
I was going through the numbers to see where I can start looking as far as Jayco's. Looks like I could easily do most 24' campers and a new 27DRLS.

Here's how I came to my numbers.
Tow Rating 10500 (GVWR Tow Vehicle)
Payload 2060 (GVWR Tow - Passengers + Gear + Fuel)

Hitch Wt 75
Gas 38 gal tank 7lb/gal 266
Driver DT (excess of 150 lbs) 50
Passenger 150
Dog 40
Gear in Truck 200

Max Tounge Wt. 1279 (Max. Payload - Sum of Load)

Gross Max Trailer Wt. 8527 (Estimated limited by Payload)
Trailer Tongue Wt 15% 1279 (Max Payload - Load in Truck)

Jayco 27 DRLS (GVWR) 7500 (Example 2017 27DRLS)
Tongue wt Est. 15% 1125 (Example 2017 27DRLS)

I made up a nifty little excel spreadsheet. That way when I find a camper, I just plug in the GVWR for the TT, it estimates 15% tongue weight and I get a green box if all my weights are acceptable or red if I am not :-).

I believe I need to calculate full tank of fuel but not sure. The towing link on the Jayco Website says manufacturer allows 150lbs for driver and full fuel tank. I thought it was dry curb weight with 150 lbs driver. Close enough I guess.

Everything I've read says payload is calculated with a full tank of fuel and a 150lb allowance for driver, as you said.

How big is the fuel tank on that truck?

38 Gal with the Max. Tow Pkg. Ah, I get to add a couple hundred lbs to my payload.
Thanks, Doug
