Adding a second anti-sway bar
Our WDH currently has a single "friction" style anti-sway bar attached. After reading different posts here I was under the impression that adding a second bar on the opposite side would help.
So I contacted a local dealer and asked their guy in the shop about having one installed. He said that it wasn't a good idea to have two of them since it could push the TT out of alignment. He said that they would be fighting each other for control.
SO, I thought I would bring this to the forum and get opinions?
Thanks

Fighting each other for control is a good thing IMO. I don't know what he means pushed out of alignment.
many quality WDH use this "fighting for control" in their design
If both sides are fighting to keep the trailer locked behind the TV I think is a good thing.
That being said I think it is still a poor choice for sway control and I think you will hate it.

x2
I can see how a Reese Dual-Cam, and potentially Equalizer, could try to "push out of alignment" if they weren't setup properly, but don't understand how friction would do that

I guess if the two friction control sway bars were not adjust properly they wouldn't be as effective, but that applies to all WDH's with integrated sway control as well.
As far as the out of alignment comment, that's the first I heard that.

Geez... I know.. I know...

I think I am in agreement that it wouldn't be an issue. Our TT is 30' long so I am well within the potential need for a better system.. Hard to swing the ~500.00 for a new setup right now. The price for the bar is only around $50.00...

You'll have ask the guy why they make ball mounts with dual ears for two friction sway control bars. http://www.huskytow.com/product/trun...hitch-package/

Certainly wouldn't be the first time or the last a tech at a dealership was spreading misinformation. My tech wasn't very knowledgeable, but I was polite and didn't call him out on anything. I don't know that I would be that polite again... But I know more now than I did then...
Besides, it's not like they're locked in that tight. They do allow for some movement, right? They just resist movement, they don't prevent it completely, therefore they would self-adjust, right? Not like putting a solid bar between the hitch head and the frame. So I can't see why the tech would say something like that?

I use a Husky hitch with a single friction sway control. Never have had any sway with my 26BH which is essentially the same as your trailer or my longer and heavier 27DSRL.
Properly set up with 12 to 15 percent tongue weight you should be fine with a single sway control.

I picked up one of my anti sway controls from harbor freight. Placed beside the Reece ...they are identical. It's just a piece of steel sliding between two other pieces of steel with a tension nut. I've been using this same type since 1976. I have never had a problem. If your 30 ft or over you need two.
Don't over tighten and make real loose in the rain as they can prevent you from turning...pushing you straight. Tighten a little. Drive it. If swaying tighten a little more..about half a turn at a time until you get the sway out.
You can get to much weight in the rear of your trailer as well..you will never get that sway out until you load properly.

I had read that if trailer is over 30 feet then you should use 2 sway controls. Our trailer is 35.5 feet long and I have not had any problems towing in a head wind, side wind about 35-40 miles per hour, 18 wheelers passing or even a real bad tailwind one time.

I have the Husky set up. I went to my dealer for advice and they scheduled me in to have one side installed. MY UNIT DICTATES BOTH SIDES ACCORDING TO THE HUSKY LITERATURE. I didn't read that literature until after the first was already installed. I felt like we all should, the techs seem to know much less than anyone on these forums. I'm certain sway has much to do with your load and water being carried. Bottom line was the tail was wagging the dog with one and two made a HUGE difference. NEVER TRUST A DEALER. Half those guys do not own or use an RV. Consult forums.

Weight of the TV makes a big difference as well. I'm guessing your pushing 8000 pounds plus with passengers and gear.
