Not sure if you are familiar with the 6.7 fuel system and rebuild cost but it's outrageous. Also, I wanted the EGT to keep an eye on the regens. I'm very particular with my equipment and I believe that monitoring your engine vitals can save a lot of money later. Wish they'd put more of this stuff on the dash.
Yeah, I'm pretty familiar with the fuel system and you're right, it can be very expensive to repair. Obviously the critical link in the common rail fuel system is the HPFP. I take a fuel sample once a month from the DFCM to make sure there is no water in the system [something that will grenade the HPFP quickly, even before you get the message]. I also change primary/secondary fuel filters every 18k, instead of the 23k recommended by Ford. Another thing I do is I add 6-8oz of Diesel Kleen [gray bottle because the truck is kept in a heated garage] every time I fill the tank. When they removed the sulfur from the diesel fuel, it lost a lot of it's lubricating properties. The Diesel Kleen replaces a lot of these lubricants and also gives the fuel a much needed Cetane boost. I think regular maintenance is the key to these engines. I also wish they would put more of this on the dash, especially like giving you a 1 minute warning when the regen process is to begin.

I have an Isspro cluster of three gages on the pillar.

UPCamper. the pillar mount will take the place of your hand hold. You order the mount for your vehicle in the color you have and it will look like it came from the factory that way.

Bluetooth ODBII adapter and Torque App on my Android Tablet. About 30 bucks and I have more gauges than I need for all my vehicles.

I had a handle there as well. If I remember it was quite easy to remove. Just a couple small bolts.

I don't know if I mentioned it before, Isspro has fantastic install instructions.

I too thought I wanted gauges on the A pillar (because I liked them), but the more I've looked into them the less enthused I've become.

Many others recommend Scan Gauge II, but I've now decided to also go with the Torque Pro adaptor (plus software) and a tablet.

I've previously been using that hardware/software item (all of $30) on my smartphone - but I'm now in the market for a dedicated tablet ... so as to free up the phone.

Look at the SCT Edge Insight. Every gauge you could ever want, EGT, turbo timer, and fuel pressure if you so choose. I love mine. The maintenance minder features and data logging are pretty cool too.

I had an Isspro cluster of three gauges on the pillar in my 2004 Ram 1500. I loved the gauges so much I took them out before I traded the truck for my 2007 Ram 1500.

Truthfully I didn't feel like going through all of the wiring involved to put the Isspro gauge in my 2007 Ram, so I purchased the Edge Insight electronic gauges and plugged it right into ODBII connection. While I love the good old analog gauges, the Edge Insight looks great and gives you much more data on your engine.

When I traded my 2007 Ram 1500 for my current 2012 Ram 2500, I kept the Edge Insight. It takes seconds to move from vehicle to vehicle.
