CaldwellOne - nice looking truck. It shouldn't have any trouble doing the job for you.

As for GM 2500 axle ratios, they have flip flopped like a politician running for reelection over the years. When I ordered my '07 4.10 was standard. I ordered the optional 3.73's (one of 2 mistakes - the other was light gray cloth interior that did not age well). Just to add to the confusion, 3.73 is usually the performance/towing ratio for the 1500 class.

Looks great Cald!!!

SMS,

Last I knew GM now only has a 5yr/60k mi power train warranty like the others for the gas trucks, can't recall what the diesel is.

BLD,

Nice truck, don't forget to update your signature!!!

Yes, I added them afterwards but they aren't completely functional as the dealer wants $200 to turn them on.

Depending on features (power folding/ heated or whatever) they have to activate the "sales code" in the system to get those functions working as designed.

The 2016 6.6L Duramax has a 5yr/100k powertrain warranty, and my 2016 2500HD 6.0L gasser has a 5yr/60k powertrain warranty.

"Certain commercial fleet, and/or government fleet vehicles" may have a 5yr/100k powertrain warranty which may include the gas engines (GM documentation not very clear).

That must just be for Rams? I upgraded my Silverado mirrors and was no problem to do myself. No power extend or fold but heat and signal. When I bought my new truck the where a must after having them on the last truck.

You had a LS or LT then, didn't you? Not sure about the new body GM Twins, but for the GMT 900 trucks if you had an LTZ/SLT with the power folding mirrors there was a different tow mirror kit for the truck, and the (bcm I think it is) computer had to be reprogrammed by the dealer.

After we bought our '10 I installed the tow mirrors as well. Then when we upgraded to our HD the truck we decided on didn't the the tow mirrors either, so while waiting for the truck to arrive (dealer trade) I reinstalled the standard mirrors on my '10 and swapped the tow mirrors to the HD once it was home.

Ya I had an LT. I wish when I traded it in I had time to take those mirrors before making the trade.

Same mirrors from the 1500 to the 2500?

Yes. As far as I know the '07-14 ('13 for the 1500) were all interchangeable except the reprogramming issue as I mentioned.

I'm not sure if it's just Ram or not. Those are the ones I have seen first hand with these issues- helped two friends change theirs with the same result. I always had them OEM on mine. They're silly though. Puddle lights, heat, power fold and the Rams have the temp sensor in them that can actually alter the way the engine runs based on the temp it senses- so if that's out of sorts you can well imagine the headaches.

They do the same for remote start. Have to get your key fobs "programmed" at the dealership. I was looking at it for my 1500 at one point. they wanted $300 for the fobs and to program it. Found some fobs online for $65 and they were still going to charge me $150 for the programming. Seems like a racket..

When deciding between two close spec vehicles, I listen to my back and butt during the test drive. Is the seat comfortable? Will I be willing to spend 4 hours (full tank of fuel) trapped here? How well does the wheel turn? Does it pull odd on the shoulders? How well does my left elbow rest on the door pad with the window open (and closed)?

It's going to be expensive to purchase, fuel, maintain and repair; regardless of brand! Make absolutely certain it is comfortable!

Just having that extra in the warranty was totally worth it for me.
I have a lifetime bumper to bumper and power-train warranty on my '16 RAM. Its not transferable, though, and its only to the original owner. Not sure how you can get much better than that.

How did you get that? Did you buy it extra and if so how much? We bought a 2008 Nitro with the lifetime powertrain warranty! I wish I could have afforded a new 2500/3500 hemi at the time!
