Any need for adjustment?
The trailer is just slightly nose high. This is leaving our last campground, so its loaded just as it would be regularly. (except for me not being in the truck) Is there any need to buy an adjustable hitch to lower the nose? I haven't had any problems so far, rear bottoming out for example.

Typically nose high will cause the tail to wag the dog. But if you are not having any issues I would leave it as is.

A nose high trailer is reportedly more prone to sway. Level to slightly nose down is preferable. Yours looks close.......

I do have a sway control bar attached, I haven't had any sway that I know of. I'm assuming I would know if it was swaying. Crabman when you say "Yours looks close...", does that mean yours looks close to needing adjustment? Or close to level?

I mean it looks close to being level, just a bit nose high. Probably not enough to warrant major changes. If it proves to be necessary you could buy a lower shank, if you cannot go any lower by dropping down a hole with your current shank. I will also add that you appear to have a very capable tow vehicle for the trailer you are towing, which helps with stability.

My hitch now is just a standard 2" drop with a sway control ball off to the right side. I guess I'll keep what I have unless it starts to give me trouble. Just thought I would ask guys with more experience for their .02 Thanks for the quick response

I used to have the same combo. I flipped the axle on the trailer to have the leaf mounted to the top, instead of underslung. Just felt better, only cost about $200 if I remember correctly. But either way its a light weight trailer and shouldn't be an issue.

That's what U-Haul tells their customers.
You might be able to get closer to level by changing the position of your loads. Heavier stuff up front in the trailer, and toward the rear of the TV.
Edit: You're a lot closer than many you are going to see on the road. And if you aren't having handling problems, that's a good thing.

I would change the shank and get it right. Shanks under 6" are not too expensive.

I would adjust it so that it's level to a little nose down....., may not have been an issue yet, but that first less then ideal towing condition may be a different story. Doesn't take much for a single axle TT to become a little unruly...... been there, done it.

I need something that works with my sway control bar. Also this may be a stupid question but how tough is it to remove a ball from the mount? Do you stick it in the hitch while you're loosening/tightening or would a bench vice be better? I think for peace of mind, and to quell my OCD I might level it out before our big trip to Florida next year.

looks good I would buy it. Should do everything you want. I would take it to a truck shop and get them to impact the ball onto the platform.

Your vehicle is going to hold that ball mount better than any bench vise. I've tipped benches over reefing on something but I've never tipped a car over.

I have attached hitch balls by putting them in the receiver sideways so I can push down on the wrench with a cheater.

Put about 400lbs of campfire wood in the bed of the truck behind the axle and it will be perfect, although the trip home you may be a little nose high...

I would make the 2 or so inch adjustment down for all the reasons above plus your tail is going to clear the "dips" better. You look like your clearences are very minimal and it could result is a lost stabilizer.
If you enter a crowned road with a "dip" like exiting or entering a parking lot you might loose something based on the picture I am looking at.
