Anyone using a BullyDog?

Anyone running a BullyDog?? I was thinking about getting one to keep a better eye on the temperatures, between when I am and am not towing. When towing I would think having the ability to view the transmission and coolant temperatures would be nice.

I do not know how much a bullydog is but I know I would have piece of mind having a transcooler installed. If you already have a transcooler installed you could just get a temp gauge for your tranny ?? Just a idea.

You running Gas or diesel? Were you getting one just for the digital gauges, performance tunes or both? I have heard good and bad things about Bully Dogs. There are those who love them and those who say they are no good. I myself use an Edge Insight that plugs into the ODB (OBD) port and can monitor about everything. For EGT temps (for Diesel), you have to purchase and have the EGT probe installed separately. There are other brands of digital gauges available also.

For performance I use a Smarty Jr. For Cummins, Smarty and H&S are the 2 most recommended tuners. EFI Live is fast growing.

You may want to look into some of the diesel forums and do a little research as to what is said about the various tuners etc. Dodge Owners Forum http://www.dodgeownerforums.com is one that I belong to.

Check the forums for the type of truck you have. In general what's good for a Dodge, is not necessarily good for a Chevy or Ford or gas / diesel or even engine sizes for the same companies. There are some tuners which owners flat out recommend against, while they work great for other manufacturers vehicles.

I have a Edge Evolution CS tuned hooked to my Chevy 6.0 gasser and I really like it. It has all kinds of features with different tuning options. The towing tune really makes a big difference when towing and the 8 gauge monitor is really nice for keeping a close eye on all of the fluid temps.

I have the bully dog power pup... like it... but if you are just getting it for the gauges then go with a pod on the pillar...

If you're just interested in monitoring, there are tons of options. A popular one is Scangauge II which is programmable to what you want to monitor. Other options include Edge CS, CTS or straight gauges to what is important for your application. I use an Edge Insight as a monitor, but have recently been playing with the Android App "Torque" which is a fantastic value and provides a ton of information (more than my Edge). There's options for iPhones as well.

I use an Edge Insight CS in a custom pod with an EGT probe to monitor my vitals. The EGT probe won't necessarily be needed since your running a gasser.
