Angry Argh truck problems

So before each trip, no matter how short or long, I do a complete check of the truck. I was a little late this time and found a problem. We're supposed to leave tomorrow at 10:00am for Lake George but have to make a trip to the dealer first and hope the part is in stock.

My diesel has about 117,000 miles on it and say what you will about the 6.0 this one is a good one. Well, during the inspection, I have about a 1" tear the turbo outlet boot. I knew something was up since my turbo boost numbers were running 3-4lbs under where they normally are, I was blaming it on my last oil change.

Don't like making last minute repairs on anything, but at least I found it before hooking up. This is a pretty common part to fail, and I hope my dealer who does a lot of truck work has one in stock. Argh!

I hope your dealer has the part for you. Hopefully, you'll be on your way as planned.

I also look over the vehicle before a trip. We're going out tomorrow too and I am going to get a new battery in the morning. It was really slow and is over 5years old, so I can't really complain.

Good luck.

Hopefully they'll be able to get me going. Even with the tear in the boot, I'm still getting 17PSI which "might" be enough to do the trick, but if it drops more than that, well...... If I have to there are several dealers in the area and an international dealer (engine manufacturer) on the way, I have to imagine someone has this part. Just don't like the unknown...

Duct tape... since you will replace the part use duct tape (many many wraps of it) as a temp fix

Sorry, I just couldn't resist the reference to Duct Tape......
It does come in handy and I always have some with me, and usually crack some kind of joke when I use it.

Well, we made it there and back without any issues. It was probably my fault that the turbo hose broke, I was flushing my coolant and had removed the charged air cooler pipe and probably overtightened the clamp. In any event, the truck ran great as usual.
