Back from the body shop

So a few months back I got rear ended (drunk driver at 3 pm) with my TV with my 6” drop hitch on. No significant damage. The hitch went through his bumper, and one side of my bumper got pushed in about an inch, it did not touch the box. No serious damage, no injuries. But I was concerned about a potential twisted frame due to the hitch taking the brunt of the impact. Got the truck back Friday. No frame damage. Bumper was not damaged just a bent bracket. The insurance insisted on a new receiver and new 6” drop hitch. Neither showed any damage, but they said from a liability issue it needed to be replaced incase in the future something would happen.

Glad to have good insurance, and a replicable body shop.

Glad to hear everything turned out the best for you!

A couple of years ago, I was also rear ended by a guy that fell asleep taking the exit ramp. My insurance company had the same response. They replaced the rear bumper and the receiver. I did not have my hitch on the Truck at the time.
It's nice to hear my insurance company is not the only one.

My wife was stopped and the car behind her took off and rear ended her jeep. Broke a plastic piece around the hitch and destroyed the other persons front bumper. Funny part was, $180 for the bumper removal/ inspection/repair and $150 for a 3 day Jeep rental (plastic piece was only $39.00).

Good move..., you just never know what the impact may have done beyond what the human eye can see.
