Supposedly, my dad bough enough automotive rug to redo the whole floor. Once the upcoming snow plowing season is over, I'll see if I can find it and get his supervision to do the install.
Then 2 sets of mats:
- Weathertech: deep pockets for snow and mud - washed as needed.
- Vinyl & rug: comfy and quiet for long hauls - cheap and replaced often.
Hmm, yeah some inexpensive floor mats might raise the civilized feel a modicum, and even provide a breath more of sound proofing. Just a little more lipstick and rouge.
I'd forgotten about ashtrays and cigarette lighters. Can't remember my last vehicle with one of those. Oh, no, wait I can. My last van (a Kia) had one in the back seat for the kids. None up front for the adults mind you. The logic of that one was lost on me...

Sorry, the ashtray disappeared before I bought the truck. The hole below the HVAC controls is where it belongs.
Floor mats and dried out rubber matting don't get along well. There's a certain lack of connection between the two. Being divorced, I may not the best authority on relationships... Even I can see that one is doomed to failure and multiple fallings out.

I'd probably clean a few spots on the factory matting to glue down some Velcro. The problem comes is "What to do with all the little nubbies on the underside of the new mats?"
