Consumer Reports, Toyota Tundra most reliable

December issue of Consumer Reports magazine rates the Toyota Tundra most reliable of all full size pickups. GM, Chevy, Ford, and Dodge turbo diesels all rated far worse than average for predicted reliability. Being a Ford guy myself I was sorry to see that all Fords except for the 6 cylinder models rated below average for reliability........happy camping!

I have a 2006 Tundra. Yes it has always been a good truck, but it won't pull my TT. Even the new model ones would probably struggle with it as well!

Doesn't surprise me as the Tundra is a pretty awesome truck. My brother just bought a 2010 and ill be looking for one myself in the spring.

The 2006 Tundra wouldn't pull the 32tsbh, but that's also the last model year before they redesigned them and beefed them up. I would think a properly set up Tundra could pull that trailer easily enough as long as the TT and truck were packed conservatively.

Just curious, but what is the payload of the new Tundras with the big V8 and tow package?

Not sure here, but it is my understanding that toyota went to the new requirements for reporting such info, before the actual date that was/is required.

I saw a Tundra pulling a pretty large 5th wheel this fall. I was really surprised that it had the capability, as I looked at them 5-6 years ago and they did not.

There is a difference between reliability and capacity. The Tundra is still a half-ton. A nice half-ton though.

Kind of comparing apples and oranges here, something consumer reports usually doesn't do. Comparing a half-ton gas only to a 3/4 ton turbo diesel? Find it hard to believe Ford, Chevy and GM getting a "far worse" than average rating. If all three fell below average what brand is left to be average or above in the turbo diesel segment? Toyota?
