I am too setup similarly to Slabat. I have found when I first hook up, and the TT brakes are cold they may be very grippy at first, and feel as I have them set over sensitive. I found if I manual engage the brakes as I am pulling out, it seems to warm up the brakes and remove any “surface rust” on the them, and they work better. After a mile or two it seems like the brakes settle in and react as expected.
It is important that the TT is stopping you and not the TV. If the TV is doing most of the work your front brakes will overheat and possibly fail.
When we purchased our TT, the last thing the dealer did in our PDI was to discuss and check the brake sensitivity as we pulled out.
