I've done it once turning into a gas station, left the wire too short. I simply pushed the plunger back in which released the brakes. Took all of 30 seconds since I realized immediately what had happened.

cheers and have a great day.

yep, that's the way to fix it. All that pin does is prevent contact between the wire to the trailer brakes and a wire to the trailer battery. When it is pulled, contact is made and the brakes come on. Replacing it will break contact, and brakes will come off.

The PLUNGER is keyed and will only go back in ONE WAY. Don't force it or it will bust...

When the plunger is pulled it uses your trailer battery to power up each one of your electric brake magnets... Just replace the plunger back into its socket to return the brake magnets to "OFF". You will hear it snap back in place. Once the KEY is aligned you may have to press pretty hard to get it to snap back in place.

If it out for any length of time this will run down your battery rather quick. Each wheel magnet will draw 3AMPS when 12VDC is applied. If you have four wheels with your trailer that is 12AMPS being drawn from your battery. If you have a problem and cant get the plunger back into the emergency brake pull slot then remove the NEGATIVE battery cable from your trailer battery. Having the 12VDC applied to your brake magnets may also damage your brake magnets if left "ON" for a real long period of time...

Plug the brake piece back in.

Otherwise should be fine

May take many hours to fully recharge the batteries.

Once I had the cable to short and pulled the brake on a turn. It was easy to just plug it back in after rerouting the cable. You can burn out parts in the brakes if it is unplugged for a long time. Usually the batteries will die before damage is done but a trailer that is plugged in to shore power can cause some things to get real hot.

Was pulling last year and the cable had gotten caught on the hitch or something and made a turn and it pulled the pin out. Locked the trailer brakes up and stopped me dead in the intersection blocking traffic in all directions. Only took a few seconds, but it seemed like an eternity by the time I put the truck in park, unbuckled the seat belt and ran back to the hitch. Of course, fumbled with it since I was in a hurry. Wife was behind me in the Suburban with the stock trailer yelling at me asking What happened?
