Hard to say until you know final weight not posted weight on brochure. 20 lb tanks are about 38 lbs a piece and don't know for sure weight of battery. most of the tt end up heavier than the listed weight in brochure

Welcome and congrats on the new 27!

What is the reason you are going to swap out the 30lb tanks for 20lb tanks, to save weight or ease of the tank exchange maybe? Or are 20lb tanks the standard now?

Concerning which model wdh to get, unless you end up packing very heavy in the front pass through storage, an decide to haul water, the 1k bars would probably be a good match.

Just know that if you ever step up to a larger/ heavier trailer the wd bars are not interchangeable on the E4 systems. But the 1200lb bars may be a little on the high side pending how you end up loading the 27.

reason for 20lbs is can be filled or swapped anywhere as well as weight.i have ordered from rv direct in Albany ny and will have to purchase a hitch to pick up the trailer and will have to go on dry hitch plus propane
+batt + guessing 800-1000 gear

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new trailer.

I would go with the 1,200 lb bars:
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating 8250lbs x .15 = 1,237lbs tongue weight + propane & battery

I believe a WDH rated at 1,200lbs would be desirable.

A 27BHS loaded moderately at 7,500lbs would put it in the 975lb to 1,125lb (13% to 15%) loaded tongue weight range.

Note: The "published' UVW of 6,335lbs doesn't represent the "as shipped" UVW...., it can be another 250lbs to 450lbs heavier. There will be a yellow sticker on the side of the TT with the "as shipped" UVW.

I tow a 28BHBE and started with the 10k Equalizer but just couldn't get it dialed in. I also had a lot of Up and down motion when towing. I upgraded to the 12k version and it does much better for me. Virtually eliminated the porpoising and got it dialed in pretty quickly...

I literally had the same question with the same trailer last week. 2017 27BHS. listed tongue weight is 605, yes. But our camper weighs 7000 dry, so the starting tongue weight is a good bit higher than that. I actually ordered the 10K version, cancelled, ordered the 12K version, cancelled, ordered the 10K version, cancelled and then FINALLY settled on the 12K.

I called the manufacturer and walked them through my problem. I was concerned that the 12K might be too stiff, but the 10K was very close to maxing out. They said get the 12K hands down. It won't be too stiff and I'm pushing up against the 10K max too much.

So...all that...get the 12K version.

Understand.

Forgot the 27 was in the 6500lb +/- range . With an ideal 13-15% tw as mentioned, go for the 1200lb bars.

Especially if it's your first tt. You will start out packing light, and continue to add without realizing just how much has been added to the tt. It all adds up fast!!!

I have the same camper, but with the 30lb tanks. I'm using the 10K hitch on my 150. If I could do it over, I would have bought the 12K model. Equalizer has a calculator on their site and they'll tell you the 10K is the one to get (which is why I did).

Don't get me wrong, the hitch I have works, but I had to adjust the brackets and the hitch head almost to their maximums in order to move enough weight to the front of the truck. This makes the hookup / disconnect process a little less than ideal as I have to jack the trailer up pretty high in order to get my bars in place. This can get tricky depending on your site, slope, etc. I have 2.5 feet worth of blocks in the back of my truck now in case I have to jack the camper up really high to make the hookup. I would have done that anyway since I don't have to use the electric jack as much with those blocks under it, but I'd rather it not be a requirement.

I didn't read the other replies (have to get to work, Monday, blah...) but I know at least one other gentleman here that has a similar trailer and he's confirmed that with the heavier capacity hitch, he's able to basically eliminate any front end bounce. I still have more than I'd like with my setup, but to be honest, It doesn't bother me enough to get the bigger hitch now that I have what I have dialed in.

Thumbs up

Big thumps up to you guys who recommended the 1200lb bars. with 5 washers i was able to get the front of the truck within a 1/8" of unloaded height and the rear about an inch lower than unloaded height. Thanks
