Equalizer WDH - best place to buy?

I did some shopping on google, but there are so many responses where they use the SKU or model name (I'm looking for the 1000/10,000 model) but the product listed is not the actual full hitch, that I'm getting confused. Amazon has it for $508 with free shipping, but I'm wondering if I can do better.

Doing a search the best price I found for model 92-00-1000 is $299 plus shipping which was $35 to my zip. Here is the link, good luck.

I found that one, but at less than half the MSRP and $200 below amazon, it seemed too good to be true. Additionally, it mentions 2-point sway control while all the manufacturer info mentions 4-point sway control.

I'm concerned it is not the same thing.

PPL Motorhomes had the best price when I was looking, but you would likely pay shipping. I have the advantage that I could go pick it up, or ask my dad or brother to pick it up for me.

ETA: PPL Motorhomes is located in Houston, TX. They have a location in New Braunfels as well, but only the Houston location carries a wide selection of parts and accessories.

Next choice would be Etrailer.com. IIRC, that's where I ordered my Blue Ox from; they had a good price, I trust them, and it was shipped to my door. Good people over there at Etrailer IMO.

Looking at the Equalizer web site they only make two models (90-00-1000, 90-00-1069) for the 1000/10,000. Both are the same specs with 4-point sway but one comes with the ball attached the other not which is cheaper by $50. The cheaper model is #90-00-1000 is on AdventureRV website for $429.60 plus shipping so its not much less than Amazon. Go to Equalizers website and look at what they offer, as you said all kinds of part number being used out there.

I got taken when I bought my hitch. Got it from the dealer the same day we purchased the trailer. I was so dang excited, it didn't matter at that point! LOL. But I did price them after, $475-$525 was the consensus for a 12K.

eTrailer does price match and usually offers free shipping. When I purchased our Huskey hitch from them I found it cheaper on Ebay. I called eTrailer and talked to them I sent a link to the Ebay listing and they matched it. Idid get free shipping and their customer service was first rate.

PPL seemed to have it in stock, and was the cheapest - even beating the lowest eBay price by more than $20. Thanks for all the help!

I bought mine from Etrailer.com. Free shipping and no tax. Beat my local dealer by $250 if I remember on the Blue Ox.

I'm pretty sure I got hosed on mine the same way. I don't even want to go back and look. But my dealer has been pretty great since purchase too, so I'm willing to "overlook" some things. I just know I won't get taken like that again. Live and learn I guess...

X3 on PPL.

The lower priced hitch is not an Equalizer, it's the Fastway E2. I believe Fastway is a subsidiary of Equalizer and the E2 is an off-shore, lower quality 2 point hitch. I have the E2 and it's not a bad hitch. I had a problem with a pawl breaking off the head and they shipped me a replacement under warranty and paid to have the old head returned.

I bought the Husky 32218 Center Line TS with Spring Bars from RV & Auto Parts online. Got it for $300.00. 800 lb to 1,200 lb rating.

Yeah, I've never really went back to the contract to see, I'm afraid to! lol. But I do know after it was added in, the price seemed to jump up a smidge. Like a $600 (estimate) smidge. But like you said, live and learn.

Fastway and Equal-i-zer are both part of Progress Manufacturing. Some of the parts are interchangeable (like the spring bar hangers) between the Equal-i-zer and the Fastway.

I agree, the Fastway is not a bad hitch, but IMO the Equal-i-zer is "better" enough to justify the added cost.
