I had a 2WD 2007 Expedition EL with 3.73's for over 2 years and towed our X19H a few thousand miles with it. Prior to buying I did the same research you are and determined I wanted an '07 or later EL for the extra space, longer wheel base, 6 speed Trans and the bonus was they came standard with the 3.73's so no hunting for one ordered with 3.73's.
Mine did not come from the factory with the MAX Tow package but the previous owner had already had a factory 7 Pin plug and Trailer Brake installed. After researching what else came with the package I did order and install myself the upgraded tranny cooler but to be honest it was barely bigger than the stock one, the only other thing was a slightly larger radiator but that never posed me any problems. I purchased a Scan Gauge 2 and monitored the Water and Tranny temp as well as the Tranny slip and I never had any issues. The truck had 100,000 miles on it went I bought it and I put 70,000 miles on it, I changed the Oil every 5k, at around 150,000 I changed the Tranny fluid, put new rotors and pads all the way around myself and had my local shop install new struts and shocks I brought him. The frame was built super strong and the springs were so stout they broke the spring compressor when they changed the rear shocks. I was very impressed with it and always felt good towing with it with the 3.73's.
This summer mine was totaled, not my fault, which really disappointed me and I liked it so much I was going down the path of getting another '08 to '10 Expedition EL 4WD with MAX Tow but we decided to upgrade on camper size to larger than I felt comfortable towing with the Expedition so made the decision to upgrade Truck size.
My 4WD F250 is a machine but I miss my Expedition. Good luck with your search... my suggestion would be go for a 4WD EL with MAX Tow which will have the 3.73's as standard.
