F150 Backup Camera

Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the backup camera on my 2015 F150 turned on all the time rather than only when in reverse? It would be helpful to be able to see the hitch when I am hooking up and moving forward.

Actually... yes. My father installed a Lockpick on his F150 which allows him full control of his rear camera and the front aftermarket camera he installed. However, that's a costly option to solve your "problem".

I talked to my dealer about this and was told that those cameras really aren't designed to be on all that long. He suggested buying a better backup camera system for this, and also reminded me that having a screen running while you are driving is illegal in most states, although not often enforced when it enhances visibility. My truck came out before the backup cameras were standard, so I'm looking for something to meet the same requirements you have.

In the menu, there is a "Delay ON or OFF".
I have mine set for delay ON. It will stay on for about 5 - 8 seconds after I put it in Drive. I'm not sure if it shuts off after a certain period of time or if it is depending on the speed.

Give this a try for now and see if it is enough time. I like to see everything when I first pull away after connecting the trailer as well.

Doing that will void the warranty. Just fyi.

Delay on keeps the camera on until the truck reaches 5 mph.
