Fastway E2 vs Equalizer?

Just spoke with someone from Etrailer who was trying to tell me that the Fastway E2 is virtually the exact same hitch at the Equalizer 4pt. He said you pay for the name Equalizer and that the 4pt sway control is just them branding it. It has the exact sway control as the E2. Anyone?

E2 as far as I know and as described in this video is just a weight distributing hitch with only 2 point of antisway , however the equal. is WD and anti sway at 4 point, and I love mine

definition from progress

4-Point Sway Control™

Consists of the two points of rotational friction and two points of linear friction; works to combat trailer sway, such as fish tailing. Found exclusively in The Original Equal-i-zer® Sway Control Hitch.
2-Point Sway Control™

Utilizes the two points of linear friction from the sway control brackets to prevent trailer sway. Found on the E2™ hitch.

So anti sway up and down with the E2 and antisway up and down + sideways with the equalizer

No your confusing the two. Equalizer makes a 2pt sway control and a 4 pt sway control hitch. This is a different brand....it's by Fastway.

from...
Our Story
Fastway Trailer is a division of Progress Mfg.

The E2 and E4 are not the same... they are similar, they are from virtually the same company.

The E2 antisway friction (2 friction points) is less than the E4 (4 friction points). For small trailers, the E2 may be sufficient.
Also, on E2 the weight bars are at the bottom of the hitch head; the E4 from sockets in the middle of the hitch head. Weight bars at the bottom can be a problem going over bumps etc. for those with the trailer coupler welded at the bottom of the trailer frame.

Yes, trunnion style bars, and they are lower than the bottom of the hitch head.

EDIT: I've checked and see 2 different hitch head styles for the E2. Maybe the link I posted earlier is not the current version.

and it looks like Fastway is a division of Progress.....

If you click on the links I put in the bars attach at the exact same spot on both. Or at least that is what it looks to be.

I guess the head style change with the capacity on the E2, however the head and the connection for the bars are different on the E4

I somehow lost a long reply, but I see the problem: There are 2 styles of the E2 - one has trunnions (similar, but not identical, to the E4) and the other has bent bars that insert into the bottom of the hitch head. My comment about bars under the hitch head was the version with the bent bars. From the ad that appeared on my screen, Etrailer, sells both versions of the E2 ($299 w/bent bars, $389 w/trunnions).

In any event, I haven't seen any good information comparing the E2 and E4 (like someone trying both on the same TT and TV, or a friction comparison between the two). In my opinion, the friction on the E4 would be greater than the E2 and therefor it would be better at reducing sway.

Folks that have the E4, myself included, like them. On the other hand, I haven't found anyone complaining about their E2.

Thank you......called Etrailer back again and got someone competent. She suggested the Reese Straight Line with Cam buckles. After looking at that system I am not so sure it will work with my clearance issue (underslung coupler).
