Fastway hitch broke, now what?

I brought the TT home this weekend after my DW and her friends had used it. When I unloaded my Fastway E2 trunnion hitch, I noticed the pin that holds the trunnion bar in the socket had broken and the locking pawl has separated from the head. Has this happened to anyone? I do not see how the pin is set in place and don't see it listed separately in the parts diagram.

There is a repair kit available for them, Check Reese parts, Mine broke What I did was to get a dermal tool and grind out the old pin Purchased a pin at a local hardware store and had it welded in place. Just make sure before you get it welded that you have the pawl in the correct position

Irony

I love that the "Made in China" sticker remains.

Contact the WDH manufacture directly, "request" firmly for a free replacement........, who knows it may be a material defect issue.

I found an email address for Fastway and send them the pictures. Hopefully I'll hear something soon. It looks like rust helped that pin weaken a bit but I may have set the hitch down on the pawl.

Interesting that the price label and the made in China label outlasted the part...

Lol...good point, Seann45! SouthCo, It's a 2 year old hitch. We are weekend campers and go about 6-8 times a year so it doesn't have that much use on it.

Update: Progressive had me send them the pictures of the hitch. They are shipping me a replacement head and a return label to send the old one back. I hope they include the nylock nuts I need.

Progressive is a good company and stands behind their products! They are usually a little pricier than the competition, but "ya get what ya pay for!"
