Front stabilizer jack clearence

We have had a fiasco traffic wise here that may be a good lesson for those who pull fifth wheels.
About a month or so ago a auto carrier was traveling across a local bridge that is one of only 2 ways to get off our island. One of his front jacks, (manual) dropped down on the road bed and hit an expansion joint on the bridge. It ripped a 30 ft section of the joint up and caused a massive wreck. A number of cars were impaled by the 30 ft piece of steel that was flying around.
Thankfully no one was killed.

The highway dept has been working on repairing it permanently causing traffic backups while the concrete sets. It was supposed to open at 5am but did not open until almost noon.

They are suing the trucker for the repairs cause his front stabilizer was hanging to low.

What a mess! Glad no one got hurt, that could've been a lot worse.

I've heard stories about people's cars catching fire on the side of the road, then they get a bill from the DOT for road repairs. As if they didn't have it bad enough with their car on fire and all, then they get a bill because the concrete had to be repaired!

Today we had a truck load of pine straw burning on the interstate. Bad day to be driving.
