Haulin` Bricks

Not just crabs and Jayco`s, today I had to haul patio bricks for a honeydew project. With this load on I think my Timbrens were fully engaged with the axle. Making a small patio behind the deck by the redneck outdoor fireplace. Last week it was installing 6 new windows in the house. Those honeydews are wearing me out!

I like your fire ring, Crabman... where did you find the metal insert or did you have it made?

Yeah - same question.....I have been wanting to make a nice fire ring...thinking of fabricating a metal ring - but I like the added bricks.

I bought the insert several years ago on sale at "The Sportsmans Guide" http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/Main.aspx? Where I have also bought some tents and sleeping bags over the years. The bricks for the fire pit came from Lowe`s. There is also a cooking grill that goes with the insert.

Sportsman doesn't seem to have it any longer... or else I couldn't find it. Does your's look something like this?

No, that`s not the one. On mine the grill is on a pipe that goes into a larger pipe in the insert. It will swing off or on top of the fire and can be lowered or raised with a thumbscrew. I guess they discontinued it. I think it was around 100.00 and I got it for 60.00

Thanks, Lee... that was the closest thing I could find to how it looked in the photo. I like how your fire pit is. Looks solid and the bricks look good.

Yeah we have backyard fires, Scouts learn to build fires there, and instead of a paper shredder which is time consuming............... I just burn all my unwanted but not trash disposable papers.

Since Sportsmans didn't seem to carry Crabman's any longer, I found this site that might give you some options:

I did find that same fire ring at Home Depot for $79. Comes with a swing-away grill. Of course, once DW started looking, she opted for a different one but the compromise is quite nice too. Made our first backyard fire last night and it just made me want to go camping!
