I took a 2011 Sierra 2500 HD Duramax for a test drive last week. Very nice.

I am considering getting the Denali 2500 Duramax. Are you happy with it?

Truck comparisons are always interesting. What the testers rarely ever show is how even are the trucks being compared. For example different gear ratios will show different results in acceleration. Different tire sizes can affect over all gear ratio. Different transmissions will also show different results as an diesel automatic can change gears without loosing boost where as a manual will loose boost during a shift. When ordering a new truck you also can get different spring rates so all 3/4 ton and one ton trucks are not always equal. I noticed that fuel economy wasn't mentioned because the new Ford beats them all in the MPG comparison.

A few turns of a screw and up goes the power. Lets set up "this truck" then go to the other dealers and get one of the lot ie no set up. It all depends whose paying for the ad. The testing company is playing with the cards it has been dealt. I'm willing to bet that you can buy a plug in a hand held tuner and increase the power in all 3 trucks to out do the other at any one time. Like I said in a prior post buy the one that has the color you like.

Dodge was 2010 Truck of the Year; Chevy 2011; and I'll bet Ford has 2012. Like 19H stated: pick out the color you like. For us, it was the Mega Cab option. Regardless, I would be pretty excited to drive/own any one of them...

I will be happy to do a real world test for any of them. They just have to furnish me one free of charge and I will be happy to report my results after 5 years.

Chevy paid for this add & a lot more because they have had such a horrible past performance with thier HD trucks. They are heavy into advertizing the new HD since it will run toe to toe with the rest of the big dawgs, Youv'e got to do something when you run 2nd in sales for the last 30+ years( some years 200,000 off the pace). Like I said , GM has finally come up with something good, although I still can't get rid of my bluoval tatoo.

Well I will put my money on my truck over any other stock HD and feel confident it can out pull, out run, out stop all of the rest! As far as GM past performance.....Every since the Duramax/Allison combo has been around the GM drivetrain is second to no one. Just sayin!

My question always is, why do you want to out pull and out run? So you can get to the gas station first?

Just get whichever truck you like best, some like the Denali, other a King Ranch. All three have great trucks, all three will climb that steep hill, all three will need maintenance. Enjoy your truck.

Ford got wind of the Chevy head to head deal and is fairly upset-so I have heard. If you notice, the company they used was approached by Chevy...how much money did GM pay to have the results "altered" in some way? Word has it that GM and Ford are doing a head to head again, with engineers from both companies present and a different testing firm to make sure nothing is altered. This is just what I have been hearing. Should be interesting.

Aside from that, I have a new 2011 F250 with the new 6.7L powerstroke and I absolutely love it. Rides great, plenty of tow power, and comfortable interior. I get good fuel mileage, 16-17 in town not towing, and 12.5 highway towing.

It's all in what you want. If you are a Ford guy, buy a Ford. Gm guy, by GM. Dodge guy, buy a Dodge. If you want to change it up a bit, I am sure none of the "big 3" heavy duty trucks will disappoint.

Here ya go boys. Not bad for a little ole 5.9 with a 6 cyl against a 6.6 with a V8 and one more gear in the automatic tranny. http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/vid...VR5&FORM=LKVR9

I noticed that the Ford was an F250 and the Dodge was a 2500. I didn't see what the Chevy was. Could it possibly be a 3500, and not a 2500 which would
make a difference in the load carrying sag.

Don't be so quick to say no. The F250 rear spring pack has 3 main leaves while the F350 rear spring pack has 4 main leaves plus an overload leaf. That is my only gripe with my truck...no overload leaf. Ford did this to make the ride quality better.
