High pressure valve stems

I had a set of LT tires (load range E) installed on my truck last summer. They are rated up to 80psi. I'm not sure if the shop upgraded the valve stems to high pressure ones - I'm thinking they just re-used the original ones.

I want to air up my tires to 55psi for towing and I'm not sure what the original valve stems can handle, or if I have high pressure rated ones after all.

Any help?

You're good. The stems are part of the TPMS. They're steel cored. There's no upgrade available.

He never said he had TPMS. Metal are HP rubber for P rated if you don't have TPMS.

Just drop by your tire store and ask them to tell you if they are high pressure. If you requested them you can always look at your work order and see if they charged you for the high pressure.

TPMS is federally mandated on all passenger vehicles 08 and up (prior to 08 was optional).I believe there were some exceptions to 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. But last I've seen lately even they seem to have tpms.
