Hub fire

On our way out for weekend camping trip when I noticed smoke from my trailer.
I was only about 10 miles from home and traveling 55mph for about 8 miles.
I was able to put fire out with extinguisher. Once cooled we removed tire and drove home on 3 wheels at 15mph.
Question is I need to take it into shop about 16 miles away. Would you drive on 3 wheels slow and easy or should it be trailered on flatbed truck? Can it be towed on flatbed or is it too tall?
Camper is only 6 months old.

Why would this happen on a new camper. We normally rotate and repack bearings at 1 year interval. Tire didn't lock up.

I would place a call to your dealer and let them handle it, they should get the needed parts and fix it where it sits. Why risk more damage driving on three wheels.

I would have it towed. Since you bought new you get free road service for a year. Call them and they will contact a local tow service to take it in for you. I would think that it would need to go on a flatbed. I'm not sure about the height, but I imagine towing companies would have experience with RV's.

We bought it from horrible dealership in NC who has absolutely no after sales customer service. Wouldn't even work with Jayco directly.
I'm in FL and closes Jayco dealer is 50 miles. I would think there is a tow milage limit.
I'll have to make some calls.

My jayflight has a sticker inside a kitchen cabinet with the phone number to roadside assistance, it's a joint venture between CoachNet and Jayco while under warranty.

3 wheeling is likely technically overloading the one good axle. The roadside group will bypass the crappy dealer that you've got.

Call Jayco directly and ask them what to do... Remember POLITELY tell them what happened and ask what you should do...

Shouldn't have happened with a new camper. But....new components do fail. I suspect the bearings failed. If you're handy, you can fix it yourself with a new spindle, bearings, and hub. Jayco may pay for the parts. However, since it's so new, I'd have Jayco come out to fix it.

We decided to not drive it anywhere on three wheels.
I have been dealing with Jayco directly on other warranty issues with camper so I'll call Monday and see what should be done.
I think the tire should be replaced as the fire was on the back side of the tire. So who knows the integrity of the tire.
We will see Monday
