I am by no means an expert and I can't say at this point, this won't work, but more information is needed.

If you haven't already, you may want to read some of the "stickys" at the top of this forum. Here are a couple I would recommend.

Do you know your vehicles GVWR and payload? What are the front and rear axle limits? Do you know the weight limits on the hitch, weight carrying vs. weight distributing? It is also very helpful to know the GCWR of the vehicle. I would be glad to help and there are several really knowledgeable members here, but more information would help in getting a reply.

I towed the 17Z with my 2009 tacoma with NO problems. However, the 18D is 1000lbs heavier loaded at 4400 lbs. This would be close to your trucks max when you add the weight of passengers and gear. This is one of the reasons I traded my Tacoma for my Ram 1500. The Tacoma is an AWESOME truck but I needed something a little larger. I don't have any experience towing the 18D with a Tacoma but the 17Z was no problem at all.

Cheers.
