I'm Towing!!

Convinced DH I needed to know how to do all the TT stuff too, so he has graciously let me tow the TT, struggle with the WD system, and execute both the set-up and take-down tasks. I'm building muscle and getting it done, the only challenge I'm having is arguing with the GPS ... she wants me to go the fastest or shortest route, whereas I want to go the easiest route (for those of you who know about Highway 17 to Santa Cruz, you can appreciate what I'm saying - I prefer Route 129! ). Now to get him to learn how to do all the TT stuff I'm responsible for ... like feeding the crew!

Good for you! I'm still trying to convince my DW to get behind the wheel of the truck alone, let alone with the TT in tow.

Long story short: Years ago my DW and I delivered trailers for Jayco. The first time she actually towed a trailer much of any distance, it was during rush hour, through the middle of St.Louis, in the dark, and in the rain!

After that, every time she towed, it was real easy.

I taught my wife (bumbles) how to pull a trailer when we first got one. She towed it just fine. Now backing up was a different story. She shed a lot of tears trying to figure it out but she got it. She goes camping without me once a year. This year she'll be towing a bigger camper but she can handle it. It's a good idea for both to know how to do everything including towing in the event there is an accident or illness that prevents the regular driver from driving.

I towed our trailer this summer. It was a bit freaky at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. Backing up, however, is something I can barely do well in my car. I'll leave that one to hubby. So far I've managed to guide him into various tight spots and we are still married. Good challenge for any couple!

I've had the DW tow our last camper for a good part of a trip. She has driven busses, but never towed anything of that size (it was our 242). Since then, we have bought a bigger camper and im not sure she will tow it. The only time I would need her to tow it is if my folks cant tow theirs anymore. I would drive their rig and the DW could drive ours. Maybe Ill have her try this summer again.
She did fine, but didn't like towing through the city's. She also had to be reminded to make her turns wider, but she never hit anything...

When we bought our first PUP, I had my DH show me how to do the set up, tear down, hook up, tow and park. I was able to do it all on my own. I now know how to set up, hook up and tow the TT. I can backup but it still a little nerve racking for me. But I have towed through Texas and Oklahoma on some of the worst roads. I had no issues.

DW's towing training begins this year!

I want her to know what towing with the 1/2T feels like so she can see the difference when we upgrade this winter!

We're heading to NovaScotia again this year, I think it will be a great time for my DW to take over some driving responsibilities. Maybe I could get her to haul it through Montreal, LOL

We're heading to the Maritimes this year, too. Plan on staying clear of Montreal and Ottawa.

Ottawa??? Staying clear of Ottawa? Why, it is an easy City to get through....and just south/west of the city is wonderful lakes and camping. Don't be scared of Ottawa!
Montreal I can handle in a vehicle, I haven't towed through yet LOL

Good for you. My DW will not even attempt tow anything or learn how to, but I wish she would.

Awesome! My bride tows a little bit for me. When we go to Florida and drive for 2 days straight she will usually take the wheel for one leg between fuel ups. That is usually enough to let me rest and not worry about focusing on the road and traffic. It is amazing how even 3 hours to check email, read a book, talk with my daughter, lay back and even just close my eyes will refresh me.
