That is almost *identical* to the truck I am currently eye balling at the lot. It's really hard around here to find the 350 lariat with the gas motor and those gears.... like almost impossible.
Congrats!
Let me know if you find out your approximate wait time to take delivery on your new truck, I may end up doing a factory order too at this point.

Lead time is currently about 8 week for trucks ordered in January. Some are getting them in a little less. It depends on:
1. Your Dealer's allocation
2. What you order
Folks ordering DRW's are waiting longer. Folks who ordered in December are waiting longer because there was a 2 week shutdown and they were still playing catch up.
I ordered 1/23. My truck is already in production and I have a VIN and a window sticker. Most likely will be shipped towards the end of next week.

I assume the incentives on an ordered truck are not as good as in stock models? Matters not though if you can`t find what you want.

That's actually a myth unless you are trying to buy a year end model. It's like the "Cash Deal" myth. Dealers WANT you to finance because they get a kick back on the interest rate (Bank charges them 2% and they charge you 2.9%).
In some cases you can get a much better deal on an ordered unit because there is no "Carry Cost" in inventory. The truck hits the ground and it is sold within a day or so. Costs the dealer very little other than allocation.
Most people are buying these trucks for invoice less rebates or close to it. Some CLAIM to be doing a lot better but I am unconvinced. Another way to get a good deal is to join EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) for $45. As a member you get XPLan from Ford and can generate your PIN right from the website. XPLAN is only a couple of hundred over invoice. They can only charge you $100 doc fee and all eligible rebates still apply. Can you do a little better - Yes. But at the price of these trucks is a few hundred really worth it?

Congrats.....That is the current timeline I am seeing. Ordering on 12/26 is basically the same as ordering on 1/6 because the factory was closed from 12/23 - 1/6. Assuming your order was accepted for processing on 1/6 that works out to just just under 7 weeks. Best I've seen is a guy in MA just got his in a little less than 6 weeks. I think some other guy was just over 4. Most are right around 8 (Unless they are in Canada).
Good luck with your new truck!

Incentives apply to all vehicles, ordered or on the lot. You just have to take delivery before certain dates listed on the offer. Many times, this won't be long enough to order a truck and get the incentives. With an order, you are more relying on luck for an incentive to be there when you take delivery.
Obviously, incentives like model year clear outs won't apply to orders since they usually aren't making them anymore.

I ordered my truck two years ago and received all the discounts that were available. My dealer also "locked" them in. IOW, if the discount went away before I took delivery, I got it anyway. If a new discount showed up before I took delivery, I got that too.
I ordered the truck at Wilson Ford in Corvallis, OR.

I had another question on this, hope I'm not hijacking.. (I also have XPlan)
How does the dealer handle your trade in when you are factory ordering? Do they lock in the price the day you order the new truck? I'm assuming if they did this, there would be a limit on the miles you can drive, they would re-inspect my old truck when I take delivery of the new one... then just sign and drive. I see some risks with this.. i.e. dealer re-appraises your vehicle 3 months after you've ordered your new truck and now you are painted in a corner.
I'd almost rather have them take my trade in upfront and make due with my commuter car for the next 3 months.
As an aside, Ford has a 1000 dollar incentive right now, but you have to take delivery by early April, so I'd probably lose that too. The moment I disclose that I have discount pricing, the dealer generally refuses to do anything more to sweeten the deal. Example... I was getting free oil changes for a year (or longer, can't remember) until I dropped my Xplan pin on the table... little stuff like that vanishes.

Not to answer my own question but I think we're just going to handle the 2 transactions as completely separate.
I can order the new Truck from dealer A, and if I feel like they are screwing around with the trade in 3 months down the road, I'll just sell it to dealer B, C, D or privately. I'll let dealer A know that we have a potential trade in, but that's about it.

Trade value should be based on when you order the new truck. They can't tell you a price and when you come to get new truck say you drove it too much.........
Get it in writing.......

Well I have not ordered a new truck since 1983, an F250 XLT regular cab so I`m a bit out of the loop. Trucks did not even have prices on the sticker back then, only the dealer knew what the cost was and you were at their mercy. Things have changed a bit since then, we also now have the internet!

Yes thank God, or Al Gore (if you ask him) that we have the internet! I don't know how we survived without it at this point.
Well, I'm pretty sure that my trade in is worth more today, than it will be in 3 months. A dealer may be willing to lock in a trade-in value today that they won't take possession of for 3 months, but I imagine there are a TON of strings attached to an arrangement like that (milage caps, damage waivers, etc..), a smaller offer... Otherwise the dealer stands to lose big time.
When they say 'We will pay you X dollars for your truck' - that offer is only valid then and there.
We're going to go for it anyway, just take our chances we get a fair trade in for our current truck come April sometime. I don't expect the local dealer to want to get involved with what amounts to 'futures trading' with my trade in. Has anyone had a dealer actually do this?

My dealer did "lock" in my price, but I am in a very small town and I bought the truck from them brand new and always used them for service. Not sure if that played a part in that or not.

I ordered my 350 on Jan 23rd. My build date is expected to be March 3rd, with a delivery between March 22 and 28. So, maybe 8 weeks?

Not a Ford but...I ordered a Ram 2500 Cummins on February 4th. Dealer locked in my trade-in price as well as rebates. They asked about how many miles I would be driving in the 8 weeks and I told them probably 1000 - 1200 unless the new truck doesn't come in before April 12th. On that date My wife and I along with our daughter and grand-daughter will be heading to Myrtle Beach! They were not too concerned as they are pretty confident the new one will be in. They also said if the incentives are better when I take delivery, then they apply.

The initial info I got from my dealer is that if it goes longer than the 8 week period I still have a 10 day grace period on the lease. Then after that I can pay a per day amount to still use it. I would just give it back after those 10 days and make due till it arrives.
Hopefully all the incentives get better around April, I think most of them expire then.
