I find it hard to understand that a failed transmission on the first page of this thread and a neighbor with a similar trailer upgrading to a more tow worthy vehicle is positive. I hope that Mark and his family will be safe and won't incur unnecessary expences by over working his vehicle.

I believe the OP wanted to hear about what people that actually towed with a minivan experienced so I gave him my own experiences. As for the neighbour he did fine with his honda minivan, sure he upgraded as it was not the ideal situation but I believe that the OP suggested that he may upgrade in a year.

My experience was certainly limited but it was truthful. I've heard people towing with minivans and always saying no issues. Yet I think I'll be pushing the envelope. We'll see how it goes. We'll be in the slow lane and keeping a close eye on things till we get a real feel for it. For the record, I have ZERO experience towing ANYTHING... so my feeling of being at the limite might just be me being a little to cautious or critical.

The key with ANY towing is proper setup of the hitch. Be sure that your dealer takes the time to do it right, insist on their best guy and listen very closely when they explain how it works and how to adjust the hitch and weight distribution. Above all DO NOT cheap out on a hitch. Read up and ask them questions. An improper hitch setup will tow poorly with any combination.
