Mpg towing
Just pulled my new Jayco Whitehawk with a 2017 gmc 1500 Sierra. Trailer around 7000 pounds and is 31.5 feet long. Truck has max tow package with 6.2 liter v8 engine and 8 speed trans.
Pulled from Maine into the hills of Vermont and back. Got 11.5 mpg pulling. Close to 22 not pulling. How does this match up with some your experiences?
Thanks.
Steve

I'm pulling the 38.5 in my sig. Avg 11.5 to 12.5 towing and 14-16 w/o depending on the speed and terrain.
Diesels don't vary too much on mileage.

With my F150 3.5L Ecoboost, I get between 8.5 and 10.5 when towing. Like Norty1, it all depends on primarily speed and terrain.
And no matter where I'm towing, I notice a huge difference between 55 mph and 65 mph.

I average a little over 10 mpg when towing my Jay Feather 23RLSW with my 2010 F150 with 5.4L V8 and 3.55 rear end. Interestingly, it tows much more comfortably and gets much better mileage when we're off the Interstates. It much prefers 55 or less, compared with the 62.5 I maintain on Interstates.

I see a drastic improvement in mileage if I stay at 65 vs 70.
I'm in no hurry, if you are pass me!

I 100% agree with both statements.
And from my few years here I think somewhere between 10 and 12 is the average for about all TV's while towing. Like most others here who actually calculate there mileage v/s what the heads up displays says I average 10-11 while towing.

The 5.3 from GM, and the 5.4 from ford have never impressed me when pulling any kind of load. I'm a ford guy, but at least the 5.3 got much better and really good mileage when empty, that can't be said for any 5.4l that I've driven

6.2 L gasser with the 4:10 rear, pretty much doesn't matter what your doing it gets 11.2 mph around town, and 8 to 9 mpg towing. Still like not having to buy diesel fuel and all that that implies. Been there done that, don't want to go back.

I get 6 miles per gallon when towing my trailer.
I have no idea what the truck gets when empty. I never drive it that way.
