I'm with Seann45 on the Winter Tires. If you are a Firefighter and have to get through, then you need winter tires, especially if you are anywhere in upper NYS - there's more snow there at times than up here. I have Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted on -1 size rims (taller narrower tires are better for winter traction). These are far outperforming the stock Goodyear Fortera's by a long shot (will be replaced this summer). I have more mileage on my winter tires including trips to the Carolinas and Florida, and they look to have at least 3 more winters on them. (they have been through 3 winters already). They handle well, in snow, ice and dry, and even handled 80 degree Florida weather for a couple of weeks. Have only done limited towing with them (2 or 3 short trips) as our TT is winter stored, but had no difficulty.
This is my 3rd set of Blizzaks on various vehicles. I had the Michelin LTX on my last vehicle, and they were a great summer tire, and towed well on a smaller TV that was near the limit. But like Seann, I don't believe that there is such a thing as an "all season" tire for snow country. There is a very good change that Michelins will go on my current TV when I replace my summers in the spring, although I am hearing good things about the Pirelli Scorpions.
