New to forum...hello! I have a question

We just bought a brand new 2015 jayco jay flight 267bhsw.
I plan on towing it with a 2006 crew cab F-150 (has the tow package, and brake controller)
We used this to tow a Viking pop up and had no problems.

The truck was bought used and I don't have a manual for it.
I was wondering if I might have problems towing this trailer. We bought the sway bars/weight distribution set up from the dealer, in Michigan I think it is law you have to have sway bars on a trailer but not sure.

Am I being paranoid, is the f150 enough truck to pull this light weight trailer??

I would say so. I pull with an 07 F150 5.4 V8 very well. You trailer is a little longer and slightly heavier than mine, but I bet the truck can still handle it. The tow capacity of my truck is 9500. The dry weight of mine trailer is 4531 and the gross vehicle wt is 6500 lbs.

The axle weight limits can be found on the yellow sticker on the driver's door pillar. A visit to the CAT Scale with the TT and a little figurin' will tell you exactly how you are set with respect to your weights.
In my experience (limited) you will exceed your rear axle max weight before you reach the max tow weight. This link explains the weighing process:

By all means visit the CAT Scale.

I would not consider your trailer as being light weight. Once you load it up your tongue weight could be close to 1000 lbs. Depending on how many people and how much stuff is in your truck you may be well over your payload max.

Your Ford dealer should be able to look up the VIN number and tell you the weight limits of your truck.

Yes use the cat scale when fully loaded and ready to go camping.. truck loaded too and all passengers in the truck..
NEXT look at the drivers door post or the area around that.. it should have a sticker telling you the weights that truck can tow haul when it left the factory.. no matter what you do you cannot change that load rating..

In addition to that payload sticker, you'll need the info in the manual to get accurate information about hitch weight limit and actual towing capacity. Things like cab configuration, gearing, 4wd vs 2wd, engine size, and option packages change the towing capacity from a stripped down model. The manual will have a chart that shows you what your configuration is rated for.

Fortunately the Internet is a wonderful thing and most manuals are free downloads: 2006 Ford F-150 Owner's Manual - JustGiveMeTheDamnManual.com. This link is pretty safe, I have downloaded manuals from there before.

And don't be paranoid. Just have fun!
