New Tow Vehicle

Well, just put the old 2000 Silverado 1500 out to pasture. (not really- just handed it down to my son). Just picked up this nice 2013 GMC Sierra with only 12,500 miles on it. Have been entertaining thoughts of getting a new one for a while and was just looking on line yesterday and came across this one. Can't wait to see how she pulls.

Congratulations! We have an '08 Sierra and we love it. We tow a much larger trailer than yours and it tows like a dream. Is yours the 5.3?

Yes it is. Seems to have good torque. Just have to remove the trailer brake control from the old truck and install on the new and we can do the tow test.

Went a different route on this. Since I am keeping the old truck,(for my son) I decided to just put a new Tekonsha Prodigy on the new one. It's always nice to have a back-up.

New Tow Vehicle

The 5.3 with the six speed transmission should be a nice improvement over your 2000. I think the 6 speed transmission came out in '09 or '10. It is leaps and bounds better than the 4 speed transmission. I had a 5.3 6 speed transmission Sierra and it was so much better than my 2003 5.3 with the 4 speed transmission.
