No experience with the F-150, but is that 7400 #s dry or GVWR?
Conventional wisdom is that loaded weight be 75-80% of tow rating. Probably prudent as you will have weight in the TV also; passengers, toys, firewood etc..
What you want to avoid is going over the GVWR of the TV, which could void the warranty of your new truck if anything goes south.
So a loaded weight of 5000-5750 #s would be optimal to keep things managable. Needless to say a WD hitch would be prudent as well.

Personally the biggest thing I'd tow with a 2.7 litre anything, would be a 17 foot Boler/Trillium. Just my $.02

Dealer is correct. The weight ratings only consider 1 driver and a tank of gas. I may have read that has changed in newer models to 1 driver and a passenger plus gas.

Anyways, you need to check your payload rating and leave enough for tongue weight which is between 10-15% of trailer weight.

I switched from a fifth wheel back to a motorhome a few months ago but kept my 2002 Chevrolet crew cab dually. She only has 40K miles and love that truck. Only down side is mud. My dually HATES mud...

I found out from my mechanic that a V 6 tows better then a straight 6. Also I found out my jeep grand cherokee is a straight and the liberty is a V. Who knew. It also tows better. So we are getting an electrical system put on it so we can use it to tow until mine is fixed. Was told is you want to off road jeep is the way to go. Sigh. Was also told need a newer car with a V in a grand cherokee too. Sucks. O well. Can off road in any jeep. Jeep for me.

+1, my GMC 1500 turned into a RAM 2500. It happened just a few months after I answered this poll!

Maybe we need a "2016 Tow Vehicle" poll?
