Yeah, been following that subject for about two years now. Interesting PR move by Toyota being pro-active on following the towing test standard.
Heck, they (big three) all agreed on the standard!

I read somewhere that Toyota wanted to add a component on towing shuttles! ha.

In addition to the standard not being followed, looks to me like the chart at the bottom of the article lists the claimed capacities of the base model (think gearing), and does not include any data about optional gearing or engines. This muddies the water even farther.

There are ISO standards for everything else... it is about time they did the same for towing.

For my truck setup in terms of cab, wheel size, 4x4, gears, etc I cannot even get two of the same ratings from Dodge or Chrysler and even the websites contradict each other. Then if you compare US to Canada it is even worse.

That's ok, I will just hook up my space shuttle and go home  . Those bottom listings are for the base model, and from the look of it, those numbers are for V6 models and not 8's. I know the V6 standard Silverado I had had a 4800lb rating on it.

Hi,
You Ram should have a sticker in the driver side door. It gives you your tire pressure and it also tells you what your available payload is for your vehicle. Take the payload and subtract it from your GVWR which I believe is 6800 lbs and you will have your curb weight. If you have added anything to the truck ie. floor mats, mudflats, rails covers etc. you must also subtract those weights from the available payload. Again and as mentioned many times in this forum....the best thing you can do is load up the truck as if you are going camping and weigh the truck at CAT scale, make sure you get the weights of each axle.
