True, but I like my money. I've worked with enuf Japanese manufacturers in and out of the automotive industry and have seen how they design products. If I thought exceeding payload a little was going to be a problem I'd have just stuck with my dmax.

Sorry, but until you're in a full floater, it's not an HD axle.

Sorry, all I meant to say is that it's the same axle as used in Nissan's NV 3/4 and 1 ton vans.

Hey bzeller

You've got an awesome , good looking new truck. Don't know how this thread took a turn into criticism of your new ride but if you like it and it does what you want it to do, who cares what anyone else thinks. FWIW, my comment about looking like a ford was not meant to be a slight. Happy camping and enjoy your new rig!!

I hear what you are saying. While it's not in print, I'll bet most manufacturers test at 150% without issue, but the legal beagles have most running scared.
I sold my F350 last spring and bought an F150. With my family of four, I'm figuring I'll be a couple hundred over, too, but we haven't decided what to do in terms of a final trailer selection. The price of a new 3/4 ton loaded as I like is north of $70k. Too rich for this guys budget. I'm about ready to build my own trailer.

Appreciate that! I've owned every brand of truck other than Ram. Haven't had a bad experience with any really. If money wasn't an issue I'd probably own one of the big three diesels, but that's not the case right now. All I can say is that IMO the XD tows more like a 3/4 and much better than the 1/2 tons I've owned, but personal taste is what makes the world go round right! Happy camping to you as well!

Yep. I'd be in a '17 GMC Denali 3500 Dmax or '17 F350 Platinum if they weren't north of $70K MSRP!! I spend a lot of time in my trucks driving around Central TX so I like my creature comforts.

I just traded in my '15 Denali 3500 for a '17 Silverado 3500 Midnight, now I am just waiting to pickup my old trailer to trade it in and pick up the NP 377!

No disrespect to your truck, or decision; however, you would gain quite a bit more than two grown men in payload capacity with an F-250 Super Duty. Payload is about 3000#'s in a F-250 4x4 Crew with either engine option. Plus, a Super Duty is just that, and intended to haul around the big boys.
Enjoy the truck you bought, just don't overload it, and don't get caught up in the marketing hype. The comparison of the XD is to the F-150, not a Super Duty.

I wasnt a huge fan of the earlier '15-16 Silverados especially with the chrome front end, so I went with the Denali last time, which I loved that truck, but I was getting up in the miles and there was good deals and I managed to find the only '17 3500 Midnight in the upper midwest with all the options that I wanted so I didnt have to wait for an order. I bought the Denali used with 20k on it. After I traded it in for the Midnight my payments on the same terms was $12 a month higher for a brand new truck, so it was hard to pass up. Downside I had to get a new hitch as I previously had a flush mount Pull-Rite Slider that wont fit the factory 5th wheel setup, so this time I am going with a B&W fixed hitch. Then all the rest of the "required" mods, tint, clear front end wrap, upgraded headlights/foglights, swing cases, etc. I am still trying to decide if I am going to install airbags in the rear again, I did them to the last truck, but the suspension seems stiffer on this truck.

I stated several times if you need the payload of an HD the XD isn't for you but think you better check the door sticker of some F250s. My brothers 2016 F250 4x4 PS Lariat is a little over 1900 lbs. I've seen door stickers of F250 Platinums in the high 1700s to mid 1800s.

F250 Platinum

My brothers F250 Lariat.

I'm not knocking on Ford, all the manufacturers make these massive claims but they are typically quoting a basic config. Also, I have seen F250 Platinum stickers up to 1850.
