Thumbs down Ram 2500/ 3500 Trackbar recall

Has anyone had any issues with their trackbar breaking loose on their 2013-2014 3500 or 2014 2500?

The R46 recall seems to be history repeating itself

CHRYSLER issued a recall on the 2500, and 3500 models - Recalls & alerts - Healthy Canadians Website

I just went out and inspected my welds, they seem to be fine, a little sloppy but fine. Without an x-ray there is no way to tell if there is proper penetration or not. I haven't even had a chance to hook this thing to my trailer yet and now I am so paranoid to drive it that I am not even sure I want to.

Man, I am starting to miss my 1500.

I don't understand the "history repeating itself" comment. My truck is included in this recall, I've had it almost 2.5 years, have 34,400 miles on it with zero issues, ( replaced windshield washer pump). I towed a, loaded to, 16,400# 39' 9" 5er all through the mountains of WV, TN, VA and NC, never an issue. The 4 wheel drive trucks have a more robust track bar assembly than 2 wheel drives, but doesn't mean welds aren't bad. Towing on quite curvy mountainous roads, I would think, could really try a bad weld. If it hasn't failed yet, I don't think it will, BUT will follow up on fix and follow information on this...No fix yet. I'm following on Cummins forum. My truck is my daily driver, 2.5 years of daily driving and towing, no paranoia here about continuing to use it...

Don't know what your towing, but the 2500 will still be far more capable than your 1500.

Front end issues is what I meant. I love this truck, but man the recalls and perpetual check engine light are getting old quick. I've had 3 back to back- no different than a lot of others, but this R46 could be a potentially major issue. The 3 link front end rather than the 5 link has cured so many things that were an issue with some of the HDs, and now it's sullied by a possible shi**y weld? Just frustrating.

I guess now that I have had a chance to cool down, I can't see any issue with hooking up as long as they correct the issues in the R46.

I've taken care of all recalls ( except R46), and all re-flashes, but have never had a CEL, a check engine light, issues with wobble or vibration...guess I've been fortunate.. I tow heavy and in the mountai..Figure if a weld was going to break, after 2.5 yrs and almost 34,500 miles, figure it would have already happened...guess we'll just wait and see... Not on cumminsforum, no. I am over on ramforum under the same name. If I don't limit my forum memberships I would never get anything done.

I did look at some info on cumminsforum. I am possibly making a mountain out of a molehill. If I read correctly, there is a possible 149000 or so trucks that *may* be affected. Of that, it's a real possibility that MAYBE 3% have that issue of a crap weld (I am just pulling figures out of the air for demonstration purposes) and if it holds true that the problem was a second shift with improper training- cut that 3% in half... you get the idea.

My anxiety and mild OCD (two characteristics that make me good at my job) are maybe getting the better of me.

Hopefully, we find out our trucks are just fine or FCA comes up with a good, permanent fix.

Had my new to me truck for less than a month now and only one pull with it. I am impressed with the power and handling overall and love the exhaust brake. Having a little less than 1K on it from me I am still feeling it out overall. There are currently 3 recalls on this truck that I am addressing next week, as well as bad pressure sensor with the track bar being one of the recalls.

Under self inspection the weld looks good with no cracks, rust or paint chipping, but there is no way to inspect penetration. Since there is no current solution the dealer will just inspect.

The truck is a towing animal, ain't it

My welds "look" ok too. Hoping they are,,, again, after 2 years and almost 6 months, 34,500 miles and towing a 16,400# in the mountains... I believe if a weld was going to break on the track bar, it should have already happen....but that really doesn't mean anything I guess.

Beast of a TV. Out of the gate in a hurry and comfortable at 63 in sixth, turning 17-1800 on the flats. I was concerned the 4.10's were going to be overkill, but from what I have read and talked with others the 3.73's are better in 5th gear turning slightly higher, so will live with the reduced daily mileage for better towing experience.

My camper is weighing in at 15750K and need to get over the scales again this summer with this TV to confirm.

Drivers side frame rail. Follow the track bar from your passengerside link to the drivers side and you'll see where the mounting bracket is welded to the frame.

I have a 2015 Ram 2500 Diesel and I just love this beast! Just rolling 9700 miles on it yesterday and no problems whatsoever. We pull once a month with our camping club and I have had no problems. Did the recall on the Uconnect radio system myself and that is the only recall affecting my unit as far as I know. Just like our Jayco units, some problems may pop up but get them taken care of and move on!

I did the Uconnect myself as well. Check for the airbag recall of programming. You might need an update if you have a 4 door model manufactured prior to Feb 2015. The sensitivity is set too high and could result in a activation if the door is slammed too hard.

Hey smurfs sir, how it's going I see that you are over on the ramforum site, I'm over there also, my user name is Bigdaddy. Thank you for clearing that track bar up for me I went to look at it and it seem like it's okay but you I use to work at Boeing and we work with metal and if you don't do a die-pin on weld you wouldn't know. Man I was hope that I can talk my wife into getting a 2016 2500 6.4L, I'm still working on it.

Good luck, hopefully she sees the light!

I agree, a visual inspection is insufficient- all I can verify is the weld was holding and wasn't cracking on the bead. Without a proper test though, no way to tell.

I am not concerned any longer. I have rid myself of that buggy truck once and for all. 7 check engine codes, failing systems, several no-start episodes and finally a self destructing transmission all in a month and a half of ownership led the dealer to quietly buy me out of it and into a '15 2500. That thing was a problem child.

Wow, a 2015 awesome so will you get the same kind and color that you have now or will you upgrade from what you have now? I would love to get a 15 or a 16 but it will have to be red in color that's what I have now, I still like that Big Horn so it will be a BH. Let me know what you get?

It's a Limited again- just minus the RamBox and it's black. None available within 1000km with RamBox unless I ordered a new 2016 which is out of my budget. I am driving it now as a "loaner" until I get a chance to get down and sign off on it.
