Ram mileage

Noted people stating mileage with their Ecoboost. Well after few hundred miles have noted (by computer) mileage of 10.8mpg as an average with my getting older Ram. Can do better when no wind and bit worse into the wind. This with speed at 60mph and the land around here in not flat...
Will get some 65mph driving in next week when heading to North Shore of Lake Superior. But think will continue over 10mpg as have been at that speed some already just not for 100+ miles (doubt will cruise faster the 62 actually).
Interesting that I get between 17 and 20 normally, but when I hookup even my ATV trailer with just one ATV (total 1200lbs) my mileage drops to 13mpg, but if I haul .5 Ton in bed of truck mileage remains at about 17mpg. Friend with Chevy as similar drop pulling his ATV (about 900lbs)

Doesn't matter what travel trailer you tow, or tow it with, mileage will be 8-12 depending on weight, width of trailer, and capabilities of TV. I get similar daily driver mileage as you, and towing my trailer I average a pretty solid 10 mpg, that's over two summers now in a mix of wind, hills, flats, and no wind.

ON my last trip i got over 15 mpg on my 6.7 L Ram 2500. That was calculated by hand and not by the onboard computer which was showing 16.2mpg. Getting 19 not hauling anything. Going out on my second trip next week of a couple hundred miles one way. Will have a better feel after that trip.

Ive only towed my new trailer for about 300miles total with my 5.7 Hemi Ram 1500. Ive got the 8 spd transmission and 3:21 rear end.
Getting average of 12.5 mpg towing my 267BHSW. Getting 19.2 daily driving and 23.5 highway driving, when not towing of course.
Runs in 6th gear most of the time, on cruise, when towing. Will drop to 5th on long slight uphill grade. Have not towed through any big hills yet. Heading out this coming Monday on 14 day 700 mile trip so we will see how it does. Really pleased with how it tows so far.

JayC, I have about the same that you have, 25ft Jayco and 2015 ram CC 5.7 Hemi but I have the 392 rear and get 10MPG towing and only about 14 MPG around town. Maybe need to put the higher gears in…

The 3.21 paired with the 5.7/8-speed is a really good all-around combination. I've seen numerous postings of the 3.21/5.7/8-speed and 6-7K trailers pulling just fine. I was originally looking for a 3.92 but they just didn't have them on any of the lots and I was not in a position to custom-order. I'm glad I ended up with the 3.21 though - it's been a good performer as a daily driver and my average over about a thousand miles with the trailer attached has ranged from 11 to 13.5 with an overall average of 12.7 hand-calculated. Have a ~2500 mile round trip planned to Southern Utah for next month so it will be interesting to see how it does on the longer outing.

I am extremely pleased with the trucks performance. I have around 1500 miles towing the 267bshw now and my mileage is about the same as my previous post. Tbh, its the 8speed tran that makes the difference with the 3:21 when towing. I was hesitant when I upgraded trailers but it does more then fine. I tried really hard to find a trailer we liked that was within the limits of my truck. At the advice of many on here I weighed the trailer at the scales. She's 6989 with tongue weight of 849 when all loaded. I always tow in tow mode.

I've had three different Rams, a 1500 with 4.7v8, a 1500 with 5.7 Hemi and now a 2500 with 5.7 Hemi. As soon as I hitch up, the mileage drops to between 8-11mpg. I just did a 2100 mile roundtrip to Nashville with my Ram 2500. Going I was fighting cross winds and only got 8.5mpg. Coming back the same exact route I got 10.5 mpg.

To follow up on the Utah trip - best tank was 13.6mpg and the worst tank was 11.2mpg. Overall for the entire trip it came in at 12.3mpg. 62mph seems to be the sweet spot and no gear hunting on the hills. I did lock out the overdrive on a couple of the longer 6% grades though. Pretty happy with the way the whole package goes down the road. The Andersen hitch does a great job on the sway control and the trailer stays nice and straight while the semi's fly by....

On my last trip I got a hair over 14 mpg with my CTD, but we were coming down outta the mountains. Still climbed some hills, but overall we were descending. We tow around 65-68 mph. I'm pleased to get 13-14 towing at those speeds with a 32 foot long 8500 lbs trailer.

Empty on the highway I got almost 22 at 75 mph... that is amazing to me. Combined driving (mostly red light to red light to red light around us...) I am getting 17.5 to 18. Again, for a 7500 lbs truck, I am very pleased with those numbers.
