As another blog mentioned there really is no problem in getting a truck with as many bells and whistles as you would like. If you are serious about a 5th wheel in the 14k range you also have to consider pin weight (similar to tongue weight but the weight of the trailer on the 5th wheel hitch). So you need to know towing capacity and the weight the bed is rated for. At 14k you are surely looking at a 3/4 ton truck, perhaps even a 1 ton. In central NY, 1-2 year old diesels are are going for mid to high $40k, gas versions $8-10k less. I'm a Cummins diesel fan myself and the exhaust is a tremendous plus when towing. I understand that the exhaust break is now also available on the duramax engine as well( Chevy/GMC). Be safe and don't undersized your truck. You may want to consider getting a tow vehicle that you would be happy driving year round and then look for a trailer that is with in those specs. Good luck.
