Scangauge and 2013 Expedition

I just received my Scangauge 2 today and none of the Ford specific X-Guages are working. Bought it specifically for keeping an eye on the transmission temps. Anyone have any ideas? Got an email out to the company but just checking with all of you too. Leaving tomorrow to pick up our new Jay Flight 19RD in Des Moines from central Colorado. Would like to have it working on the way home.

The 'X-Gauges' are the ones you key in, correct? I remember it was a royal PIA and, by myself, I couldn't get it to work. The DW had to read them to me a few digits at a time and I keyed them in very carefully. There were too many digits for me to read them, key them, then find my place to read the next group.

Bottom line, it was a team effort.

That's not much help, but that's all I got.

Thanks, but I input numbers like this all the time for work. What makes it easy for me is read and input 4 digits at a time.

I would be shocked if there wasn't a "sender" as Sean mentions, but that is a possibility.

However, if I recall correctly from when I set up a ScanGuage II for my old truck, the codes were very long and there were more than one option. I seem to recall there was a manual that included several codes for the different measurements by manufacturer, but also you could go online and get additional codes. Transmission Temp was what I was after and it tool several attempts to set up the X-Guage to get it working.

There's a temp sensor in the bulkhead wiring that goes to the ECU for the tranny. It sends the reading to the PCM. You have to buy the bulkhead to get the sensor..it's not sold seperately. So in short..yes...it has a sensor.

Just got off the phone with them. After inputting the codes, you may have to scroll through the gauges and come back to the one you just edited before it will start to aquire the data. I did not do this after setting up the x-gauge. It now work and mine was the third TFT code in their list.

Such a small world. I just got out of my truck about 15min ago and I was doing the same thing in my Chevy truck. I wanted the TFT (transmission temp) to display as well. I had to key in the codes as well.

Looking at getting one of these for my 2010 F150 to monitor transmission temps as well. Will I need to buy an additional sensor or sender for the Scangauge to display this ?

I can't answer your question for the Ford, but I do know you can go to their website and download the manual. I had to do the same to see mine. It is a long code sequence. That is the best way to see if your Ford is on the list.

Nope... I had one in my 2007 Expedition that is now in my 2015 F250. It picks up the temp from a sensor in the pan area (at least on my Expedition). The OBD monitors the Temps and that is where it reads the info from as you plug it into your OBD port. You will have to enter the X Gage codes which you get from their website, easy to do.

My F250 has a Trans Temp digital gauge but is buried in menus, the Scangauge reads the same temp. On my Expedition I had it set to read Water Temp, Trans Slip, Trans Temp and Instant Mpg. When towing it was nice to be able to monitor the Trans info, the Slip was whether the Tourque Convertor was locked up or not.

On my F250 I have not found the right code for the Trans Slip so have it set for Water Temp, Trans Temp, Alt Volts and Instant Mpg.

Been meaning to call Scangauge about the Slip code, I had to call them before as well as when I got it the connector cord was damaged and they sent me a new one, no charge, so they are very helpful if you have any questions on codes.
