Series of Ram to tow 32BHDS

Wishful future thinking here.. but was wondering which Dodge Ram I would need at min to tow the 32BHDS.

I get a little confused with GVWR GCWR etc etc...

I'm thinking at min, 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi, and 4.10 Gears in the Quad Cab 4x2?

Your thoughts? Could we do this with just the 1500 series Ram?

Personally I would not tow that trailer with a 1500 series truck. Your first choice sounds much better but its best to crunch the numbers.

1500 series won't do it, or not willingly! We have a 32bhds and cannot use my F150. We bought a 2008 F250 4x4 CrewCab long bed and it pulls like a dream. I pull the trailer on all our trips.

Go with the 2500 Heavy Duty: If you're looking at a bunkhouse trailer, I am assuming that you're planning on a crewcab truck. The ramtrucks.com website lists Max Trailer Weights in the 13,000 range with the 4.10 rear.

If you go with the Ram 1500 QuadCab or CrewCab, you're looking at a Max Trailer Weight of 10,100 (ramtrucks.com, Ram 1500, 5.7L Hemi, 4x2, 3.92 rear).

Jayco.com lists GVWR 10,200 for the 32BHDS (total of trailer dry weight PLUS options, gear, LP, and tanks). The Hemi is plenty of engine for the 32BHDS and some dealers will tell you that you can do it with a weight distribution hitch and adding airbags to the truck's rear, but you will where out your brakes, suspension, etc. The Hemi will pull it, but can you stop it safely? IMHO, too much trailer for the 1500.

I traded my 2006 Ram 1500 Hemi Laramie in for a Ford F250 6.4L diesel when my dear wife selected our next RV (2011 32BHDS). Then you are all set when your wife picks out a fifth wheel two years from now. :lizard: We stopped by our favorite dealer just today while in the neigborhood for some cheep redneck fun looking at changes to instock 2013's and leftover 2012's. I got away cheap today--too hot to linger very long.

Not having enough truck is a common complaint. You rarely see a post complaining that they have too much truck.

I tow our 322FKS Eagle with a Ram 2500 Diesel, towed the same unit with a Chevy Max 1500 with the 6.0 gas engine, towed the trailer OK, but the truck was to light, especially in wind, hills etc. If you get a Ram, get the 2500, & if they will deal,get the diesel. I bought a 2011 Ram 2500 Laramie, Diesel, $12,000 off sticker, plus got $20,000 for my 07 Chevy.. Set a price you want to pay, and see what Ram dealer will deal. I have been a "Chevy Guy" all my life, but Chevy would not deal, so I bought the Ram, love the truck, and the Diesel makes towing a dream. My son has had 2 Ram Diesels and no problems. My thought is you can never have too much truck! Happy shopping.

You can't get a Ram 2500 with the Quad Cab, either regular, Crew or Mega. I just bought a 2500 with the Hemi to tow our 26RLS.
