Setting the brake controller

Hi I'm a little unclear on setting my Tekonsha P2. The instructions say set to 6.0, drive 25mph and trigger manual switch to just before TT brakes lockup. Should I NOT be applying TV brakes while doing this? Adjust boost at this point? Should I do this each camping trip if I might have slightly different loads? Maybe I'm overthinking this.

The P3 instructions sound similar. I turned off the boost feature (I don't use it anyway) and followed the initial set up instructions. You should not be applying the TV brakes during the setup process...use the manual level to bring the combo to a stop and adjust accordingly. I think I had to increase the output a bit when I first towed the TT loaded but I only check it at the beginning of the season now.

Correct. Don't use the TV brakes when setting up. I have a P2 that's 10 years old now. I usually don't do 25 though when setting mine, maybe 15. Push the lever and if they don't lock, turn it up a bit and keep doing until they lock. Then back off some. Usually you don't need the booster, though as the brakes on a previous trailer wore over time I did find myself using it.

The Prodigy is "set it and forget it". No need to adjust for every trip unless you are talking major differences in weight. In your case, that might be a good use for the booster then. More weight, use B1 or B2.
